On Friday, the Cavemen lost to Springville at home 1-7. The game opened with pitcher Emily Gillespie striking out the leadoff batter. bat-ter. Getting on base via an error, no. 2 hitter Emily Veylupek soon stole home after Monica Lamb had clubbed a two-out single into left. Gillespie gave up a single to Lacie Durrant, but got a strikeout to end the inning. In the bottom of the first, first baseman Durrant turned a double play that helped the Cavemen finish the inning with their 1-0 lead intact. The next inning, Gillespie Gille-spie proved to be harder to hit against. The Thunder-bird Thunder-bird struck out American Fork's first two second-inning second-inning hitters. Tiffany Rawlings broke Gillespie's streak by hitting an infield single, but Timpview kept her stranded on base. American Fork stayed stuck on its 1-0 lead until the fourth. Hitting a center-field center-field single that inning, Durrant scored her team's second run on a passed ball. Singling on one out in the bottom of the fourth, Shauny Talk got singled in by Julie Moon on two outs. 1 si-, - .. t t 1. JIT 'J 'HQS""11"1 , Lorraine Davis tags a runner out at second on April 30.
