AFHS students place third at International Science Fair Haylee Ferguson and Chelsey Barrett recently returned from the International Interna-tional Science Fair held in Louisville, Ky., May 12 to 18 where they took third place overall. Their prize included $1,000 as well as the all expense paid trip to Kentucky. Thirty-nine countries were represented and 176 projects were entered in the fair. To qualify, the girls were the top scorers in the Central Cen-tral Utah Region's fair held in March. This is the second consecutive consec-utive year the girls have earned the opportunity to attend the International science fair, last year garnering gar-nering 4th place. The contests are sponsored spon-sored by BYU and the David O McKay School of Education. After graduation next week, Ferguson plans to attend BYU majoring in Biology and Barrett plans to attend Utah State and wants to be a doctor. K.C. Three teams from the school participated and all three teams did well. Team one, consisting of fifth and sixth graders who are all in the Accelerated Learning Lab at Highland, placed in the top 10. They are Brittany Thompson, captain; Keenan Larsen, Lindsay Cahoon, Megan Lloyd and Spencer Burhoe. This year's subject was geography. The second team consisted of fifth and sixth graders also: Nathaniel Pri-bil, Pri-bil, Kaitlyn Brower, Jasmine Widner, Melissa Brock-huigsen Brock-huigsen and Alex Webb. Students attend Boys and Girls By Sherilyn Frost Juniors from American Fork High School are preparing to attend Boys and Girls State in June at Weber State and Southern Utah University, respectively. The purpose of the program is to teach leadership skills, patriotism, and knowledge of city, county, and state government. Representing the school are Stephanie Lambert, Makayla McElroy, Heather Vallen, Bryant Baker, Ryan Hess, Matt Johnston, James Miller, Todd Robinson, and Steven Swallow. Stephanie Lambert is the daughter of Charles and Betty Lambert. She plans to attend BYU Idaho majoring Greenwood Greenwood Elementary School winners for April have been announced.
