Show Local musician ave Edwards to erform Dave Edwards, local musician, Highland resident, resi-dent, and author of a refreshingly unique Utah Valley sound, will be playing play-ing with his band on May 17 at Johnny B's in Provo, celebrating the release of his new album, "Tipping Pictures!' Edwards, whose past venues range from Central Park and Rockefeller University in New York to Provo's Scera Shell Amphitheater, has gained regional acclaim for his eclectic, catchy mix of blues, folk, and rock. Touring intermittently since April of last year, Edwards has shared the stage with local musicians Peter Breinholt, Ryan Shupe and Cherie Call. Edwards and his band will mainly concentrate on promoting his new album, which was co-produced by Utah Valley mainstay Rich Dixon and features numerous numer-ous local musicians'. Written over a five-month five-month period, "Tipping Pictures" features a sophisticated sophis-ticated pop sensibility and more than a few standout tracks. The album has already received positive reviews from Brad Thompson, founder of LDSMusicians.com, and Eric Endre3 of sister-site LDSMusician.com. "David has a strong and unique voice in modern music," writes Endres. "The treasures of this album are still revealing themselves to me." Traditionally, the Hale Center Theater Orem does a yearly tribute to Grandma Ruth Hale by producing one of her original comedies. Hale, at age 92, recently suffered a severe stroke which has rendered her unable to walk. She has made remarkable progress but still has to stay in an assisted care facility.
