(Bill) Jones, Utah County civic, church and business leader, has filed as a Republican candidate representing state Senate District 14 in Utah County. Senate District 14 includes the north Utah County communities of North Orem, Lindon, PL Grove, American Fork, Lehi, Highland, Alpine, Cedar Fort, Fairfield and Cedar Hills. He has been a resident of Alpine for the past seven years. In civic activities, Mr. Jones serves as unpaid volunteer chairman of the Board of Trusteees of Intermountain Health Care, Inc., a non-profit community com-munity corporation for the ownership and management of 21 hospitals in four western states. He also serves as fund drive chairman chair-man and member of the executive committee of Ballet West; is a member of the National Advisory Council of the College of Business, BYU; serves as vice president of Utahns Against Pornography; served as vice president of the Executive Committee of the Great Salt Lake Council of the Boy Scouts of America. His business career includes bis present positions as chairman of the board of Electro Controls, Inc., a manufacturer of stage lighting equipment; chairman of the Board of Control Lighting, Ltd., president of Traco Manufacturing, Ltd., and treasurer of Brookfield Products, Ltd., all Utah corporations. April Savings Bond Sales Volunteer U.S. Savings Bonds Chairman Kay L. Jacobs for Utah County reported $141,954 in sales of Series E-H Savings Bonds for April which brings year-to-date sales to $495,242. State Chairman Wendell E. Gile and 1978 Take Stock in America Campaign Chairman James B. Chaney announced an-nounced jointly that April E-H Bond sales for the state amounted to $2,337,732 which brings year-to-date sales to $9,609,828 or 27 percent of the 1978 goal of $35,600,000. Nationally, treasury officials reported that April sales of U.S. Savings Bonds totalled $718 million, or sales of almost $36 million for every working day of the month. This is five percent above April 1977 sales. April was also the 55th consecutive month in which Series E and H sales exceeded redemptions. redemp-tions. He served as a regional representative represen-tative for the LDS Church since 1972, first in Chile and Bolivia and now in the Laylon and Kaysville regions. He formerly was a member of the M-Men and Gleaner Committee of the YMMIA General Board. He served as president of the Uruguay-Paraguay LDS Mission, has been bishop of the East Millcreek 8th LDS Ward, and served a mission to Uruguay. His military service includes duty in China, Korea and the South Pacific area. He is married to the former Eleanor Park and they are the parents of seven children. h ' ' ' THOMAS C.
