Vacations, reunions, long-awaited anythings...all take a bit of planning and forethought. The actual happening is usually only a small part of the excitement. ex-citement. The second half of the, fun is thejeineaiberfng. itiig"around the table, hands flailing through the air, reliving the big event. Sometimes it's more fun the second time around. Back in my high school days I was always up to my neck in Girl Scouts. (I improved bowler" trophy. The trophies were awarded to team members by Dorothy Miller, secretary of the league and co-ordinator of the season's bowling activities. At the conclusion of the luncheon, elections were held for next fall's league. Judy Draper will serve as president with LaVern Pulley, vice president, and Dorothy Miller, secretary. was rather tall.) We were an' active bunch of do-gooders do-gooders and something was always on the agenda for the next weekend. The big event of the year was a 12-day trip to the east coast, the Smokey Mountain anywherewhere there' jgistfV Wisconsin snow. By the time I had finished high school we had traveled through 12 different states. I was always packed for those big trips four days before the bus left. The night before take-off I would pace the floor, check and re-check my gear, wipe off my sweaty palms, go to the bathroom 14 times, call up all my friends in the middle of the night and go on the trip a million times before I ever left the house. Fun. You better believe it. One, two, three the trip would be over and it was back to normal, whatever that was. About every other year when the old gang manages to get back together you wouldn't believe the stories, better than the real things. There have been lots of other trips and occasions and each one has made my stomach jump for days. I guess I am just as was when I was skinnier, 16, full of trouble and ready for anything. It's grand to plan and scheme, wait, plan some more, laugh a few times, get it all off the ground and hang on for the ride. Sitting here I'm getting -fiir"nbstalgic about the good, old carefree days. Boy, I was a zesty little devil. All those planned and re-planned Girl Scout trips sure gave me the blood of a gypsy and the legs of a hiker. It's comforting to know some thoughts, feelings and rememberings are always constant and better than the last time we thought about them. Makes a person want to get up and dance on their desk. That would give 'em something to talk about for a few years to come.
