' I ' - x ' I uuL (hituarfg0 Leo Nelson, Well Known Am. Fork Man, Dies at 73 Leo B. Nelson, 73, former American Fork High School coach, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1976 in the American Fork Hospital. He was born May 20, 1903 in American Fork to Niels and Elizabeth Bromley Nelson. He married Lillian Goodwin on May 11, 1932 in Rigby, Ida., and the marriage was solemnized solem-nized later in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Nelson was a coach in Rigby and American Fork High Schools for 42 years. He also served as an American Fork justice of the peace for 16 years, was a city councilman for six years. Active in the LDS Church, he was a ward clerk under four bishops, Sunday School teacher and ward and stake YMMIA superintendent. He was a high priest at the time of his death. Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Evan (Betty) Brady, American Fork; Mrs. Max (LaRae) Scott, Chino, Calif., five grandchildren; one brother and one sister, John Nelson and Mrs. John (Beth) Nebeker, both of Salt Lake City. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 6, in the American Ameri-can Fork Eighth Ward Chapel. The family prayer at the mortuary mor-tuary was offered by Bishop Evan Brady. Prelude and post-lude post-lude music was played by Jean Ingersoll and Bishop Wayne R. McTague offered the invocation. invoca-tion. Bishop Eugene Harvey conducted con-ducted the meeting and was the first speaker. He told of some of the incidents in Leo's life and stated that he was a fine husband, father, good neighbor and dedicated church man. He was followed by a vocal selection sung by the Octovettes. They include Jean Gordon, Nancy Reese, Vivian Barker, 'Helen Able, Elma Ross, Dolly Reese, Dorothy Johnson and Dorlene Talbot. They sang "Abide With Me 'Tis Eventide" accompanied by Jewel Murdock. William E. Berrett was the concluding speaker who has been a good friend of the family fami-ly for many years; He told of knowing Leo and Lillian before they were married and what fine people they were. He comforted the family by telling tell-ing of meeting their husband and father in the hereafter and CARD OF THANKS Until we can thank all our friends personally, may we take this means of extending our deep appreciation for the many kindnesses shown in the recent death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, grand-father, Ray E. Strong. Words alone cannot adequately adequa-tely express our gratitude. Thank you dear friends, for you thoughtfulness. We dq appreciate the kindnesses extended ex-tended at the home, the beautiful beau-tiful music, the lovely floral offerings and a special thanks to the members of the Am. Dedication of the grave in the American Fork City Cemetery Ceme-tery was spoken by Max C. Scott. Casket bearers were Sterling Sterl-ing Scott, Scot Brady, Don Overly, Derek Scott, Randy Kunnells, Grant Ingersoll and Richard Nelson. Flowers were cared for and arranged by the members of the American Fork Eighth Ward Relief Society. They also furnished a lunch for the family. RUBY B. CLAYSON Ruby Clayson Dies, Funeral Held Saturday Ruby Wray Thornton Brown Clayson, 87, of American Fork, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1976 at the home of a daughter in Cedar City. She was born in American Fork on July 31, 1889 a daughter of Simeon C. and Elizabeth R.S. Thornton. She married Marion A. Brown on Sept. 24, 1913 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Dec. 2, 1928. She married Eli J. Clayson on May 17, 1933 and he died May 14, 1957. Mrs. Clayson lived in Lehi and American Fork, where she was active in the LDS Church, served in the Primary, Sunday School, YWMIA, Relief Society Socie-ty and genealogical committee. commit-tee. She filled an LDS mission to the Northern States. She was a practical nurse, taught junior seminary classes and worked on the school lunch program. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was a life member of the Genealogical Society of Utah and over the years had collected collect-ed the records of thousands of her ancestors. She had interested inter-ested many persons in genealogical genea-logical work and taught them how to commence their own research. She had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a faithful Latter-day Saint. Survivors include two sons and three daughters, Clark K. Brown and Mrs. Harry E. (Vivian) Hansen, both of American Fork; Mrs. Willard F. (Naomi) Hamilton, Cedar City, Utah; Mrs. Sherman T. (LaRue) Wright, Salt Lake Ctiy; Homer S. Brown, Lark; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. F. Earl Wright, American Ameri-can Fork. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. in American Fork Eighth Ward Chapel under the direction of Bishop Eugene Harvey. The invocation was offered by Howard T. Healey after which Bishop Harvey made brief remarks stressing Mrs. Clayson's devotion to the gospel and her principle of going the extra mile. Don W. Brown, a grandson, related personal experiences portraying her outstanding character, her great spirituality, spirituali-ty, faith, and testimony and told of her extensive genealogical genealo-gical activities. Accompanied on the piano by Lourena C. Benson, Ann C. Larson played a violin solo "The Lord Is My Shepherd." Bishop Thomas J. Griffiths told of Mrs. Clayson's great faith and the influence for good she had on all she touched. Bishop Wayne R. Fork Man Dies Rachel Sandberg Stephens Prosser, 57, San Francisco, died Dec. 3, 1976. She was born Aug. 18, 1919 in Salt Lake City to George Leo and Rachel Ann Garner Sandberg. Sand-berg. She married Stanley W. Stephens. He died. She later married Jack L. Prosser. Mrs. Prosser was a secretary for General Services Administration, Administra-tion, State of California. She was a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include her husband; hus-band; son, James A. Stephens, Salt Lake City; son, daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. David S. (Barbara A.) Meet Kim Turner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Venoy Turner of Highland, High-land, went to California (Los Angeles) over the Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing weekend to compete in the California Star Ball. It was held Nov. 26, 27, 28. He participated in the Ballroom Ball-room Dancing Championships held in the Sheraton-Universal Hotel. His dancing partner was Melanie Esplind of California. Cali-fornia. Kim brought home three beautiful trophies, second place in the Waltz-Tango; fourth place in the Waltz-Quick-step and Foxtrot and fourth place in the Pre-Novice Latin.
