An appendix containing the original questionnaire and letters, and an index of individual indivi-dual items and general classifications, classifi-cations, complete the Directory. While the 1970 Directory listed Utah exporters in five different languages, the 1975 edition has been confined to English. Over 1164 Questionnaires Information for the Directory was obtained frcm over 1164 questionnaires that were sent throughout the state. A record response of 533, or 49 percent, of the forms were returned. According Ac-cording to R. Thayne Robson, director of the Bureau of Economic Econo-mic and Business Research, this number represents the highest response ever received from a Bureau questionnaire. An updated edition of the Utah Export Directory is ready for distribution. The new publication, publi-cation, which was compiled by the University of Utah Bureau of Economic and Business Research, was commissioned by the Utah Industrial Development Develop-ment Division in cooperation with the United States Department Depart-ment of Commerce. "There are many changes in this issue," said Dale B. Carpenter, Car-penter, U.I.D.D. director "and we feel it will provide even more information to the exporter ex-porter tne 1970 version." 169 Firms The book contains alphabetical alphabeti-cal listings of 169 firms, along with their addresses, telephone numbers, product descriptions, Sic codes, the countries or areas receiving exports and approximate approxi-mate figures on annual export sales. Presently, 63 firms export over $100,000 annually, 18 gross sales in the $50,000 to $100,000 category and 51 companies export ex-port $10,000 and under. Products are shipped to Canada, Cana-da, Mexico, Japan, Australia, South America, Europe, Saudi Arabia, Africa, Greece and many other countries. Manufacturers are also listed according to SIC code numbers. Among the 121 classifications are such products as damping equipment, vitamins, optical supplies, commercial laundry equipment, carbonated beverages, bever-ages, pianos, electronic equipment, equip-ment, fishing rods, diamond bits, hospital and surgical supplies, sup-plies, heavy machinery and fortune for-tune cookie machines.
