Smith directed the board's discussion of the following follow-ing items. Budget Report President Harvey E. Smith directed the board's discussitti of the budget report for November. Assistant Superintendent Kent J. Abel reviewed the report as it reflected actual revenues and expenditures for the period. Approves Nov. Claires Claims for November, amounting in total to $303,656.76 were presented to the board by Assistant Superintendent Kent J.Abel. After a thorough review, the claims were approved. School Lunch Report Dr. Scott W. Dean, director of school foods services presented for board information a compre- ansive report of the foods service ser-vice area to this point for the 1974-75 school year. Dr. Bean reported that school lunch participation was up to 10.2 percent as compared with last year. Food costs have increased in-creased more than 15 percent, while labor costs for school lunch employees was up 11.5 percent as compared to the previous year. Rejects Participation in Tax Improvement D!st. A request from Orem City that Alpine School District participate par-ticipate tax-wise with the city in special lighting districts was rejected by the board. The board felt that it was unwise economically to become a part of the movement. Congressional Makeup Superintendent Dan W. Peterson Peter-son reviewed for board information informa-tion the makeup of newly elected elect-ed congressmen. Dr. Peterson's report showed that labor and educational supported sup-ported candidates had been elected to a very high degree. The purchases pur-chases are to be financed by individual school funds. Lehi High School will purchase pur-chase two sets of weights for $336.00. The school will also buy a squat stand costing $215.00. Orem Junior High will purchase pur-chase five sewing machines with portable tables at $255.00 each. Geneva Elementary will purchase pur-chase three units of risers. The risers will be priced at $346.00. Pleasant Grove Junior High will purchase a power sander at $478.00 and carbide tipped saw blades for $118.00. Orem High School was granted grant-ed permission to buy a projector, projec-tor, Super SMM for $349.00. Scera Park Elementary was given permission to purchase a kiln priced at $570.00. . Worlton, director of pupil personnel, the board of education released fourteen students from attendance in the district's secondary schools. Funeral Service Held Saturday for I'My Jean Phas Funeral services for Mindy Gean Phelps, 15 month-old daughter of Robert E. and Lena Gean Phelps of American Fork, who died Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Children's Memorial Hospital Hospi-tal in Chicago following brain surgery, were held Saturday at il a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Stake Center.
