'Hill mm This is an ir.Jeresnng town in which s?e livs, in fact s5! towns can be interesting if we are observant enough. For example, a little boy of about fsvs years came into the newspaper office a few days ago with his mother. H was wearing wear-ing a red leather cap similar to those worn by hunters. Sensing that his dad was an outdoors man, I asked him if he was going hunting inasmuch as he was wearing a hunting cap. , He gave me a look of distain as if ! didn't know what I was talking about. . "This isn't a hunting cap," he said, "this is my fishing cap." Under my further questioning, he told me cf a fishing trip to-Bear to-Bear Lake. They, and I presume he meant he and his dad, caught two fish, but a friend of his caught a whale, and he extended his five year arms to describe the size. As we talked, I saw a sparkle come into his eyes that told a story of lakes, mountains and trees. Of a dad who took his boy fishing. A little while later, out on Main Street, I observed a girl of perhaps seven or eight years come down the sidewalk with her mother, The girl was wearing wear-ing an ankle length dress with frills and her hair was done up in curls. She was oblivious of the .presence of her mother, and for everyun-j e'se for that matter, for this sweet thing was dancing. danc-ing. Down the sidewalk she came, holding fer dress so it would balloon out into a circle. Then she would do a pirouette on toes that seemed to be as light as goose down. As she approached me, I saw a look cf happiness on her face and she was dancing to give expression to it. Then there was a dog. There is always a dog on Main Street. I saw this one approaching from the west. I am sure this dog didn't have any pedigree papers and his genealogy would be hard to trace. But, he had a purpose in mind. As he passed me, I spoke to him, but he completely ignored me and went on his way. The last I saw of him he was still going east. Wouldn't it be interesting to know of his plans? I wonder why you never see a cat or. Main Street? As I saw these things. I thought of this Mrs. O'Kara, the atheist, who crusaded against prayer in the schools. Her heart must be as cold as ice covered rock, or she has never seen the sparkle in the eyes of a youngster young-ster when he tells of fishing. Or watched a little girl in a long dress dancing for the sheer joy of living. I was one of the fortunate who attended the concert of the Civic Chorus at &e Tabernacle. It was an evening of sheer enjoyment. en-joyment. The rendition of the : VtlWl Ml' . ii .: V- more male singers to effect a better balance would be desira-b'e, desira-b'e, bui their ni'-aUty under the able gsiidance of Jack Larsen was superb. Myron Florin, !so displayed tremendous artistry and durability durabi-lity in his performance on the accordion. How fiice it is to be carried away from the mundane things and to soar away to for-getfulness for-getfulness on wings of song. It is nice too, to forget age and to tap the feet in tune with a lively polka. A!i these things happened at the concert. American Fork can stand more cultural events such as this. I was also oe of the fortunate ones to be at conference on Sunday morning. Conference is always an interesting event for you meet friends from almost all parts of town. But this conference con-ference did something special for me. On Sunday morning the speakers were sincere in their delivery and gave us messages to enrich our lives, but the Primary Children's Chorus was most inspiring. I guess I must be a soft hearted old fool, for when thfc chorus sang and Scott King echoed the words, "I wonder when he conies again," my emotions almost got the best o me and had to suppress a tear. The spoken word comes from the human heart but the voices of children joined in a hymn of praise comes from a more divine source. tt i fl 4 The following babies w born at the American Fofk Hospital during the past week: April 21- Girl to Glade atsl Catherine l.'rry Jeppsoa of Lehi.
