With all the members of the board of education (Dr. Boyd J. Larsen was excused) and administrative admin-istrative personnel present, President Pre-sident Eli K.Clayson directed the board's discussion. The board approved claims for October amounting in total to $358,494.22. They were presented pre-sented to the board by Assistant Superintendent Kent J. Abel and were thoroughly reviewed. Superintendent Dan W. Peterson Peter-son reviewed with the board the returns from the recent school board election. As a result of the district reapportionment directive, all five board members came up for election. The board accepted an official count that showed all five incumbents being re-olected with the following vote: Precinct One, 4-year term, R. Phil Shumway, 3,295 votes; Brent Bardsley, 788 votes. Precinct Two, 4-year term, Frank C. Greenwood, 3,093 votes; David Collins, 1,150 votes; Precinct Three, 4-year term, Harvey E. Smith, 2,804 votes; Grant Loader, 1,727 votes. Precinct Four, 2-year term, Dr. Boyd J. Larsen, 2,316 votes; Bertrand Beck, 1,933 votes. The board authorized George L Bone, supervisor of transportation, transpor-tation, to prepare specifications and advertise for bids for the purchase of five buses for the 1973-74 school year. With the steady growth of students stu-dents and a present fleet of 40 buses, Mr. Bone has found it necessary to increase annual bus purchases to meet the daily demands de-mands and replace worn and aged equipment. The bids will include four regular re-gular 76-78 passenger buses and a 20-24 passenger bus for special use. The prescribed annual audit, prepared and presented for board information by auditors Dodge and Dodge, was reviewed by the board of eduction. The report expressed high regard re-gard for the district operation and its general fiscal conditon. Some suggested procedural accounting ac-counting changes" will be given future board consideration,. ... Now the Eugene band would like to return the favor. After expressing the belief that Orem High had one of the best bands in the state and would be a credit to Utah, the board approved the request. The band has set a tentative date for the trip following ' the basketball tournament.
