Show 7jnn li'pf? nii! Be kind. Remember everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. A leader has two important characterists: first, he is going somewhere; second, he is able to persuade other people to go with him. A young worker who had been loafing for most of the past year approached an older man just before he was to be reviewed for a raise. "Do you think," he asked anxiously, "that if I really work hard for the next two weeks, I'll get a raise?" "Son," the older worker replied, "you make me think of a thermometer in a cold room. You can make it register higher by holding your hand over it, but you won't be warming the room." The grandfather clocks now being built won't necessarily go in the annual house project, but they will grace homes as beautiful beau-tiful examples of the fine art of cabinetry. Working on his second grandfather grand-father clock, a massive seven-foot seven-foot high creation, is Larry Clinger, who is a metallurgist at Geneva by day and a finished woodworker at night in a class at Utah Tech under Vernon Christensen, master woodworker woodwork-er himself and chairman of that department in the college. Mr. Clinger has already made a grandfather clock for his own home, plus another wall clock. The one he's working on now is a Christmas present for his mother. mo-ther. It is made of walnut and will be a thing of beauty when it's finished. He will buy the works for the clock himself, which will come in such a form that he can install them. Mr. Clinger estimates he'll have $250 in the project when it's finished, $100 for the cabinet cab-inet materials, another $100 for the clock itself and an additional $40 or $50 for the dial What would it cost him to buy it? He isn't sure, but grandfather clocks, no bettern than the one he will make, run from $400 on up. Clockmaking is getting to be quite a hobby at Utah Tech. Working alongside with Mr. Clinger on one is Lewis Hansen Han-sen of Payson, making his first. A chamber orchestra, playing the original orchestration composed for the "Messiah," will perform with the Chorale. It is difficult to envision a more delightful way to begin the holiday season than to enjoy this monumental work performed by the fine voices of the Chorale under un-der the superb direction of Dr. Ralph Woodward of Brigham Young University. The concert promises to be a choice musical and cultural experience for everyone. Those concert-goers who do not hold family season tickets may purchase concert tickets in advance or at the door. Admission Admis-sion will be $150 for adults, 75? for students, or $3.00 per family. Following the concert, the festive fest-ive spirit of the evening will be enhanced by the traditional after-concert after-concert holiday buffet for those who care to enjoy this event as well as the concert. The buffet buf-fet will be held in the beautifully beauti-fully decorated foyer of the Utah County Building, directly across the street from the Tabernacle. The cost of the buffet is $1.50 per person, and reservations must be made by December 12. Further information, advance tickets, or reservations for the buffet may be obtained by calling 373-60 24, 225-3044, 374-1510, or 225-2076.
