Show - J i U JAMES ORDELL KELLY James 0. Kelly Dies in Colo., Funeral Sat. James Ordell Kelly, 58 of Salt Lake City, died Monday, May 17, in Kremling, Colo., of a heart ailment. He was born in Benjamin, Utah County, to James A. and Bessie Matley Kelly. He married Fern Greenwood, April 22, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He is a retired RE A messenger, and a member of the LDS Church. A former resident res-ident of American Fork he was reared and educatedintheAmer-ican educatedintheAmer-ican Fork schools. Survivors include his widow, two sons and a daughter, James Patrick, Champagne, 111.; David Mac, Salt Lake City and Nancy, Hollywood, Calif.; twograndchil-dren; twograndchil-dren; and brothers, Howard M. Kelly, Salt Lake City and T. Earl Kelly of Murray. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22, at 12 noon in the McKinley LDS Ward Chapel, Chap-el, 1883 South West Temple. Friends may call at 2128 South State on Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the chapel one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the American Ameri-can Fork City Cemetery. Funeral Services Held Saturday For Hazel H. Schoell Funeral services were held for Hazel Lee Hunter Shoell on Saturday, Sat-urday, May 15, at the American Fork Eighth Ward Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Bishop Thomas Griffith officiated. of-ficiated. Mrs. Shoell died May 11, at her home of natural causes. She was the daughter of Alice Ellen Elsmore and John Hone Lee. Her father was erroneously erroneous-ly listed as Edward Burbidge Lee. The family prayer at the mortuary mor-tuary was offered by Harry D. Manning Jr., and prelude and postlude music was played at the church by Jewel Murdock. Invocation Invo-cation was offered by Sheldan Manning and Bishop Griffith was the first speaker. He recalled his association with the family since first coming to the ward. A musical interlude was a vocal vo-cal solo by Jack Larsen, "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked." Walk-ed." He was accompanied by his wife Ann. President Homer F. Royle was the next speaker who reminded the family of their precious heritage and urged them to remember the teachings of their parents. The "Octovettes" from the Eighth Ward then sang, "Hold Thou My Hand." Members of the group included, Jean Gordon, Dolly Reese, Nancy Reese, El- ma Ross, Dorleen Talbot, Dorothy Dor-othy Johnson and Vivian Barker. They were accompanied by Jewel Murdock. President Leland F. Priday was the concluding speaker who; told of his association with the family and their contribution to the church and community. Gay-len Gay-len K. Cardwell offer ed the benediction. ben-ediction. Dedication of the grave in the American Fork City Cemetery was offered by A. Kent Peterson. Peter-son. Pall bearers were William L. Cardwell, Marlow S. Manning, Sherlin J. Manning, Leonard K. Shoell, Steven K. Shoell and David Dav-id D. Cardwell. Honorary pall bearers were Harry D. Manning, Sheldan G. Manning, Lonne K. Peterson, Layne A. Peterson, Gaylen K. Cardwell, Neil Shoell, Adam S. Cardwell and Richard Dummar. Flowers were arranged and cared for by the members of the Eighth Ward Relief Society. Warning Issued to Motor Bike Users A warning is issued by the American Fork City Council to motor bike users that all motor bikes not being properly operated will be impounded by city police. Police officers have been instructed in-structed to give an adequate number num-ber of warnings, which was set at two by city officials, then confiscate con-fiscate and impound vehicles being be-ing operated by underage drivers creating a disturbance in residential resi-dential areas of the community Parents are asked to take note of the ruling and enforce proper usage by their children. Waller F. Chipman Dies in Salt Lake Hospital at 93 Walter Franklin Chipman, 93, of Salt Lake City, died Saturday, May 15, in a Salt Lake City hospital of natural causes. He was born March 26, 1878 in American Fork, ason of Washburn Wash-burn and Caroline Abigail May-hew May-hew Chipman. He married Ros-etta Ros-etta Paulson on Nov. 19, 1906, in American Fork. She died Nov. 13, 1958. Mr. Chipman had been a resident resi-dent of Salt Lake City for 35 years. He was a cattleman and former sheriff in American Fork. He was an employee of the Meat Cutters Union for 10 years. Active Ac-tive in the LDS Church Work, he was a High Priest and temple worker. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Loranie) Abegglen, serv ing an LDS Mission in trank- furt, Germany; nine grandchildren; grandchild-ren; seven great-grandchildren; and a half sister, Melva Chip-man Chip-man of Provo. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 12 noon at 255 So. 200 East, Salt Lake City. Burial was in the Elysian Burial Gardens. Gar-dens. Former Am. Fork Woman Buried Here Saturday Mrs. Dorothy Merkley Romin-ger Romin-ger Woodard, former resident of American Fork, was buried in the American Fork City cemetery, ceme-tery, following funeral services held in Vernal earlier that same day. Mrs. Woodard, 57, died in the Holy Cross Hospital, Salt Lake City, May 12, following a long heart illness. She was a member of the American Fork business community, operating Romin-ger's Romin-ger's Market for a number of years and was also associated with her husbands trucking business. busi-ness. Mrs. Woodard was born Aug. 6, 1914, in Vernal, Utah, a daughter daugh-ter of William Saunders and Rose Anna Francis Walker Merkley. She was educated in Vernal Schools. She married Ralph Bennett Ro-minger, Ro-minger, of American Fork, Feb. 15, 1935 and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple Tem-ple in August, 1943. Mr. Ro-minger Ro-minger died in 1950. She made her home in American Fork from 1935 until 1953 when she returned return-ed to Vernal. She later married Thomas Burke Woodard, of Vernal, on Jan. 28, 1957. Survivors include her husband, Vernal, two sons, Martin William Wil-liam Rominger, Ogden; Ben Ro-minger, Ro-minger, Tempe, Arizona; and six grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Woodard were held in the Ver-al Ver-al Fourth Ward Clwpel and graveside rites were also conducted con-ducted at the American Fork City Cemetery, with Bishop Fer-ril Fer-ril M. Sorenson offering the dedicatory ded-icatory prayer. Jacob E. (Dutch) Varney Dies at 85 Jacob Earl (Dutch) Varney, 85, American Fork, died in a Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove Rest home Saurday, May 15, of causes incident to age. He was born Nov. 4, 1885 in American Fork, a son of George A. and Elizabeth Chipman Varney. He married Hannah LaVina Conder on Nov. 28, 1907 in American Amer-ican Fork. He worked for Stre-vell-P a 1 1 e r s o n, for Chipman' s Mercantile and for Geneva Steel Company. He was a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include his widow, American Fork; two sons and one daughter, John Varney, American Fork; Parley Varney, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Robert (Faye) Houghton, Alpine; 12 grandchildren; grandchild-ren; 24 great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, sis-ter, Jack Varney, Pocatello, Idaho; Ida-ho; Glen and Leo Varney, both of American Fork; Mrs. Mina Harding, Ogden. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 18, at 11 p.m. in the Anderson and Sons Mortuary Chapel. Burial was in the American Amer-ican Fork City Cemetery.
