Show oys, Girls 9-19 Invited io Join 4-H Clubs Utah County 4-H Supervisors met October 6th to plan the pro gram for the new 4-H year which begins this month and ends the last day in September, 1971. All boys and girls in Utah County between the ages of nine and 19 are invited to join 4-H. Sup ervisors in all communities in Utah Countay are now anxious ud willing to be contacted con- ce2ing 4-H programs. The 4-H program involves many action programs which suit the talents and desires of most young people. T i the fall month special emphasis is placed on enrollment in livestock clubs so that the animals can be fed throughout the winter and be in top condition for showing in early spring. In addition to livestock clubs, the entire field is openfor all 4-H members to enroll. Clothing, Cloth-ing, Foods, Home Improvement, and all other projects are now open for enrollment. The only projects which are limited to summer program are those in which plants are grown. Gardens, crop projects, home grounds beautification and similar pro jects in this category, of course, cannot be practiced successfully during the winter months. SELF IMPROVEMENT A requirement for individuals to enroll in 4-H is to first be interested in a self-improvement program. Any boy or girl who likes to do things, who likes to learn, who is interested in per sonal development should con sider 4-H. Any parent who is interested in seeing their boy or girl develop through action pro grams should also consider learning more about the 4-H program. 4-H Supervisors in the various communities are equip ped with a great deal of information infor-mation to guide parents and young people in enrolling in the 4-H program. pro-gram. Project outlines are available avail-able to all members of enrolled clubs. Individuals desiring to join 4-H should contact the community commun-ity supervisor of their community. commun-ity. If you don't know this person, per-son, or are unable to locate her or him you should call the Utah County Extension Office in Pro-vo, Pro-vo, 373-5510, Ext. 56. There are no fees connected with joining 4-H. This is a program pro-gram sponsored by the County, State, and the Department of Agriculture, Ag-riculture, and all literature, as of this time, is furnished free to individuals enrolled in a club. The only costs involved in the program are for the materials actuaUy used by the irdividual in making articles such as dresses, other articles of clothing, home improvement articles, and, cf course, livestock, feed and other items if the project so dictates. In aU cases, the project or product pro-duct produced by the 4-H'ers be'ongs to that individual. In nuay cases, boys and girls have found out that 4-H teaches them a profession which they choose as their life's work. Utah County Extension Service Ser-vice office invites fall enrollment enroll-ment at this time. The 4-H program pro-gram is now on a year round basis with fall enrollment becoming be-coming more popular each year. Any time during the winter your club may begin activity.
