Kris will be awarded a $10 gift Certificate Cer-tificate by J. C. Penny Co., for her efforts. WHY I LIKE LIVING IN AMERICAN FORK Welcome to American Fork! The words ring through the town. You can see it on the townspeople's towns-people's faces. You can hear it f II V All S 1 I . in the breeze, riding through the ; ruby and golden canyon in the au ;tumn. By climbing the splendor ; of Timpanogos Cave one can feel ; excitement increasing in every ' step. One can feel the warm wel- come in his heart as he watches i the American flag wave over the high school campus. American Fork is a person's ; Utopia. There is recreation of ; every kind, from boating on Utah ; Lake to having picnics in the cool summer canyon. For clothing needs, everyone '. can find just what they desire. : There are clothing stores of ev-; ev-; ery kind to fit everyone's bud- ; get. An excellent selection of . clothing is found in every store. : Also, the clerks in the stores are always courteous and willing to help. They always greet you with a friendly smile. As ior grocery stores, there is the best selection of food to be found anywhere any-where in our whole valley. From iae crisp vegetables to the juicy meats and fruits tliere are foods for every taste. As you tour through the town, you will see many heart-warming and exciting things. You can see email boys playing marbles in the dirt at tho Harrington School. There are little girls pushing their doll buggies on the side walks. Every summer there is a Steel Days parade on Main Street which youngsters and oldsters enjoy the same. The carnival comes next with excitement ex-citement mounting every minute all through the rides and eating pink clouds of cotton candy. After the excitement of the carnival, when you go home and the whole town is silent and asleep; you can hear a train whistling in the distance. The peaceful town is in a deep silent slumber. Scholarship Sheila Wolf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Hoggard, American Ameri-can Fork, has received a Presidential Presi-dential Scholarship for English for tuition to the University of Utah. She alsowasappointedSter-ling alsowasappointedSter-ling Scholar for Social Science and is a member of the National Honor Society. She served as reporter re-porter for the Model United Nations Na-tions Club and worked on the staff of the University of Utah's United Nations newspaper. She is this year's editor of the American Fork High School literary magazine, "Surrealism's "Surreal-ism's Children." Miss Wolf will attend the University Uni-versity of Utah this coming fall where she will major in the field of English. Scout Trocp 817 Holds Court of Honor, Mothers' Party Court of Honor and the annual Mother's Day Party were combined com-bined by , the scouts of Troop 817 (Handicapped Scouts), at the American Legion Hall in Am. Fork. The troop is sponsored by the American Fork Lions Club. There were 15 merit badges presented, under the direction of Paul Mendenhall, scoutmaster, Ken Sorenson, assistant scoutmaster, scout-master, and B. Harold Mendenhall, Menden-hall, awards chairman.
