Show Utah Tech College to Graduate KJSS, Largest Class in History May 31 The largest graduating class in the history of Utah Technical College at Provo will receive certificates and degrees, and hear Utah's director of industrial indus-trial promotion as its commencement commen-cement speaker, in graduation rkes set for May 31 at 8 p.m. in Jhe ProvoTabernacle This was revealed today by Utah Tech President Wilson W. Sorensen, who announced that John J. Leete, director of industrial indus-trial promotion for the state of Utah, will deliver the commencement commen-cement address - and nearly 400 students will graduate. As of now, said President Soreneen, a total of 381 are designated as graduates, and more could be certified by May 31. This is substantially ahead of the 315 who graduated in the spring of 1972, he said, and is by far the largest class yet to graduate from Utah Technical College at Provo. The college will also hold a summer commencement later this year and more will be added to the graduation rolls. President Sorensen declared the 1973 graduating class is fortunate for-tunate to have a man of Mr. Leete's background and experience experi-ence as its commencement speaker. The latter has spent some 30 years in various industrial indus-trial management positions, associated as-sociated with Sperry Gyroscope Company, Litton Industries, Western Research and Manufacturing Manu-facturing Company, and has served in general management positions involving design, development, deve-lopment, and marketing of commercial com-mercial and aerospace equipment. equip-ment. Certificates, signifying concentrated con-centrated programs ranging up to a year of study, and associate degrees in applied science which denote a full two-year program, will be awarded to the majority of this year's graduates in Utah Tech's basic programs of trades and vocations, voca-tions, according to President Sorensen. And for the first time, he explained, ex-plained, this graduation will see associate degrees in science awarded, signifying two years of general education work toward to-ward a baccalaureate degree which is transferrable to all of Utah's public four-year colleges and universities, plus Brigham Young University as a private institution. The credits are acceptable ac-ceptable on transfer to the public institutions through a ruling rul-ing of the Utah State Board of Higher Education, and to BYU by agreement between that institution in-stitution and Utah Tech. "Most accredited four-year institutions of higher learning in the United States also accept this degree as transfer credit," said President Sorensen. As of now, the first year it has been in effect, nearly a dozen students will receive the associate asso-ciate degree with transferrable credit toward a four-year bachelor degree. Rearing Rear-ing and incubation periods are critical because birds will often abandon nests if they are disturbed distur-bed by persons coming too close or by unexpected noise close to nesting sites. Birds of prey are especially prone to nest abandonment because of disturbance during the incubation period. Some species, such as the golden eagle, are not overly abundant and require isolation in order to successfully produce young. A Division conservation officer of-ficer reported last week that a female golden eagle that had been shot with two arrows had been found near Utah lake. The eagle was taken to Tracy Aviary and will probably survive. sur-vive. However, it is quite likely she had a nest with eggs, and her young have been lost through this incident.
