THE AMERICAN FORK CITIZEN, Thursday, May 2, 1063 Winners of American Fork PTA Council $100 Teaching Scholarships In the past, only one $100.00 scholarship has " been awarded yearly by the PTA Council. But due to1 the fine impression made upon the Scholarship Committee by the 8 outstanding applicants this year, a motion was carried to award a second $100.00 scholarship, schol-arship, to be renewable upon written application to the Scholarship Committee The Council Scholarship Committee consists of: Council Scholarship Scholar-ship Chairman, High School Scholarship Chairman, Council President and the Presidents of all PTA units within the Council. Coun-cil. ; i A At the March Council meeting, a motion was carried to set up a Council Scholarship Fund to which individuals andor groups can contribute to help 'to extend this program to additional future teachers. . , t Each of the local schools contribute con-tribute $18.00 and Alpine $10.00 to each of the two $100.00 scholarships. Greenwood and Harrington Elementary schools have each made a contribution to this new Council Scholarship Fund. Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Pritchett have also given a contribution and the first group to contribute is the Jr. Arlltra with a contribution of $15.00. While the Council does not plan to sollclte funds, for this project, they shall be most happy hap-py to accept contributions in any amount from any individual, group or organization interested in helping eligible young people to become worthy teachers in our schools. Those Interested in more information in-formation or contributing can contact Mrs. M. J. Pritchett, Mrs Elwood Robinson or any President Presi-dent of the local PTA units. by the Western Boys Baseball Association that the Queen's Contest will be held , this year by the Leagues. Acting as co-chairmen co-chairmen for this contest will be Joan M Bean, of the American Ameri-can League and Margret Hall of the National League, v Appreciation la given to the American Fork Jaycees and Jay-ceettes Jay-ceettes for their past work in this program. A sincere thanks la extended from officers of both Winning 1st place $100 00 renewable re-newable scholarship was Richard Rich-ard Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vearl Anderson, American Fork: The 2nd place $100.00 scholarship was awarded to Elsa Watklns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Watklns, Alpine. These scholarships were awarded by Mrs.fM. J. Pritchett, Council Presidents at the April 18th meeting of the AT. High School PTA. .5 .
