Recent mobilizing of National Guard Units throughout the United Un-ited States has caused much comment on the parts at persons who are not in favor of military training to replace the formal education of 17 year old high school students, members of the National Guard. Mrs. Celeste Chrlstensen "of Richfield was one of those who wanted her son to complete his school work before being mobilized mobil-ized as a guard member. But she didn't just think about It! She wrote a personal letter to Governor Gov-ernor J. Bracken Lee explaining her ideas in regard to the 17 year olds. . Impressed Governor Lee was so impressed by her plea that he called her, personally, on the telephone to say that he agreed with her and that she was the only mother in the state who had attempted to rectify the situation. As a result of her efforts the Governor issued is-sued immediate orders exempting exempt-ing all 17 year olds In high school from activated duty in Utah. After Issuing the order Governor Govern-or Lee commented that he was sorry more mothers had not protested pro-tested against activating the 17 year olds.
