F. 9-14-lt Councilmen Study Bountiful s Sewer Operation American Fork city officials were giving attention and study to the success' of the Bontlful sewer installation and operation Construction started on the sys tern in August 1949 and was completed com-pleted Just one year iater. Many of the problems confronting the Bountiful city administration are similar to those facing local of ficials. At the time the contract was let by Bountiful, it was estimated that there would be 1,150 con nections during the first year of operation. However, at the time oi completion of the contract there were 1,298 actual connec tion charges paid in full. City officials report that new appll cations are coming in every day over and above 1,298 figure. The disposal plant being built as part of the project is 99 per cent completed and at present, the sewage line Is bypassing the disposal plant until it is com pleted. The general contract at Boun tiful called for laterals only to the property line. Many prop erty owners made private ar rangements with the contractor on the ground to take the lateral from the property line to the house. v ' Officials of thtvaorthern city report that wherever the sewer has been made available only two improved pieces of property have refused to make arrangements for the connection fee. The city has an ordinance requiring, that all plumbing in the home be connected to the sewer within twenty days after the line is available for the property. Orientation School Held Here by Jr. Chamber Group The master orientation school for the Junior Chamber of Com merce conducted for the Utah county district in American Fork recently proved highly beneficial and Interesting to tnose wno at tended. The school, held periodically, Is designed to educate local clubs throughout the state to the procedure pro-cedure and purposes of the Junior Chamber organization. Mr. Walsh Trtrntwrt four nrocedures which have , been standardized by the state organization, witn reguia tlon forms. The forms included th nrpsident's. the secretary- treasurer's. committee activities and awards iorms. Asstetine- Mr. Hunter and Mr. Walsh with the school were Ken Sowards. Vernal, president of the Utah organization, G. Easton Rmwn. American Fork and Wayne Dabb, Ogden. Mr. Brown and Mr. Dabb are national ai rectors for Utah.
