Tremendous Interest has been stimulated with the announcement announce-ment that Helen Traubel, "great Wagnerian soprano; Vladimir Horowitz, generally regarded as the world's top pianist; Oregor Platlgorsky, undisputed No. 1 cellist of today; Alexander Unln-sky Unln-sky and Grant Johannesen, pianists, pian-ists, and Rlcardo Odnoposof f , violinist, vio-linist, will appear at the Tabernacle Taber-nacle with the symphony. Season ticket-holders have until un-til April 15 to secure the same seats for 1950-51 they held last year Ticket requests should be accompanied by a twenty-five percent payment. That first concert will feature Helen Traubel and is expected to be a sure sell-out. Meanwhile a drive on the 1950-51 Progress Fund also Is under way and many fans have sent in contributions! to support the orchestra which has gained unprecedented na-i tional recognition during the past J season. F. Ranks Fourth In Building Increase for 1949 American Fork ranked fourth among the major cities of Utah in percentage of increase for building permits In 1949 over 1948. American Fork's Increase was 101 per cent, which was top ped by Tooele, 576 percent; Help er 282 percent, and Brlgham City 112 percent. The survey was made by the Unrversity of Utah bureau of business and economic research. The unincorporated areas of Utah county showed an increase of 63 percent, and Pleasant Grove's increase was 55 percent Salt Lake county (unincorporat ed) Price, Tremonton, Salt Lake City, and Ogden registered gains of 53, 51, 38, 23, and 15 percent, respectively. Drops were reported in South Salt Lake, Provo, Orem, Sandy, St. George, Spanish Fork, and Richfield. Total value of building permits in American Fork was reported to be $1,047,950, which was ex ceeded in value by Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Ogden, Utah county (unincorporated), Provo, and Orem. Clark, 403-8th ave., Salt Lake City. Mr. Birk is the sen of Edna M. Birk1 and the late L. Neldon Birk, American Fork. Following graduation from the University of Utah, Miss Clark went to Columbia where she served serv-ed her dietetic internship. At the U of U she was a member of Delta Del-ta Gamma sorority, Omicrom and was president of Cwean. Mr. Birk graduated .from the school as a mining engineer. He was affiliated with Beta Theta Pi, Owl and Key, Skull and Bones, and during his senior year was student body president. Since graduation he has been employed employ-ed as mining engineer by Geneva Steel company. Here are a few points on handling hand-ling eggs: In cake making, have eggs-like eggs-like other Ingredients at room temperature so they will combine well. When a recipe calls for egg yelks alone or egg whites, plan ahead for using the remainder. Here for example is a team: GOLD CAKE j Vi cup fat 1 ts. orange rind or vanilla 1 cup sugar ' 3 or 4 egg yolks 2 cups sifted cake flour 2 ts. baking powder ' '. "" li ts. salt cup milk Blend together the fat and orange rind or vinllla. Gradually Gradual-ly add the sugar, creaming well after each addition. - Add the egg yolks, beat well. 81ft together flour, baking powder and salt. Add alternately with the milk to the creamed mixture beginning and ending with the dry Ingredients. Ingred-ients. Pour into a greased loaf pan about 9 inches square and bake in a moderate over (3S0F) 40 to 43 mln. FRUIT WHIP ' Prepare 23 cup cooked sieved prunes or pulp from other fruit, either raw fresh' fruit or cooked dried. Add V teaspoon salt to 3 egg whites and beat until stiff but not dry. Gradually beat in 6 tablespoons sugar and gently fold in the fruit pulp. Add 1 tablespoon lemon Juice, if desired. de-sired. Chill before serving. Male Robin The male robin takes little part in the nest-building or Incubation of the eggs. Once' the young are hatched, however. It takes charge of them while the mother bird busies . herself hatching a second brood. 'People Are Funny' Set For Coliseum Next Friday Evening The Utah State Fair Grounds Coliseum has undergone many Improvements since the close of the 49er State Fair. First, the hlch dome ceiline was covered with acoustic tile. for soundproof-j int. Then the entire interior was , redecorated. Plumbing was im- oroved. and all seats renumbered.
