Elder Christopherson will enter Cultural Arts Club meets The February meeting of the Cultural Arts Club of American Fork was held at the home of Lu-cetta Lu-cetta Gibson, President Edith Kaneko presiding. The club collect and prayer were given by Erma Wood. Members and guests enjoyed a delightful report given by Betty Spencer, well-known for her Pageant Pag-eant of the Arts affiliation and her poetry and writings. She was one of a 40-member team of American journalists who were privileged to tour Russia in October 1989. Betty spoke of the many plans and preparations required for the trip(takingayear to complete), the daily lives and living conditions of the Russian people, the economy, shopping experiences (beautiful souvenirs were 6hown), and the flourishing black market. Among the interesting places they visited were Moscow, Leningrad, Tblisi, Red Square and the Kremlin, Krem-lin, and the circus. Leningrad was her favorite city. They found the people friendly and generous. "Russian people are more like us than they are different differ-ent from us," said Betty. There were 25 in attendance, including three guests: Etta Julian, Jul-ian, Betty Tanner and Maudra Walker. Refreshments were served by the committee: Marion Provost, Edna Tittensor and Anna Boley.
