Show Flower Show Underway For Steel Days Aleta Tidwell, Hospital Employee of the Month The Citizen - Thursday, June 1881 - Page A-8 American Fork City has invited the Garden Clubs of the area to schedule a flower show during the annual Steel Days Celebration. To make this year's event an unqualified success', Debbie Ragan, chairman, would like to enlist the support in the planning, staging, hosting and exhibiting during the three-day show. Since the Pleasant Grove Garden Club is the only chartered garden club in northern Utah County, they will act as sponsors so entrants en-trants can try for Utah State Garden Club awards as well as National Garden Club awards, they will also sponsor any gardening group for membership in the State Garden Club. Highland is Single Adults Outdoor Club Singles, 30 and over, are invited to join The Outdoor Club, and participate in the wide variety of outings planned for the coming summer months, many of which will be suitable for children also. The schedule for the weekend of June 12, 13, 14 and 15 includes: Friday night : Can leave early for San Rafael Reef campground meeting place. ( Monday river-runners can stay over weekend) . Saturday and Sunday: Camping and hiking in San Rafael Reef, under direction of Burke Jackson (call him, 768-3229, or Meredith, 25-6844, by Thursday Thur-sday evening.) Monday: One-day river run on the Colorado, near Moab. Call Jackie Burt, 377-7267, or Liz Sartori, 224-9822, 224-9822, deadline- Thursday evening. Cost is $30 per person, includes busing from Moab to start of run, five to six hours exploring canyons and the river, lunch at one of the parks along the way, and busing back to the car-park at the end of the day. Clothing: casual, including tennis shoes, brimmed hat, sunscsreen lotion. Some of the other outings planned for June include: in-clude: Cascade Springs hike and lunch; Adventure Learning Park, A.F., reserved for club; Scottish Festival at Salt Lake City; Fishing and potluck at Vivian Park; Ghost Town tour and museums west of Utah Lake. Senior Citizens Bowling and Golfing Bowling - Tuesdays and Fridays at the Jack and Jill Lanes - Beginning time 10 a.m. High bowlers for May were: Al Hoelscher, 240; Lige Chipman, 234; W.G. Sponsored by the American Fork Senior Citizen Committee - Roy Griffin, president. Come and enjoy these two sports. Chris Larsen Completes Army Course Army Pvt. Chris N. Larsen, son of Mrs. Harold K. Larsen of American Fork, recently completed the construction machine operator course at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. During the course, students were trained to operate and maintain heavy construction equipment and received practical experience by actually working at construction sites. Larsen is a 1980 graduate of American Fork High School. Kenneth Strong Completes Course At Ft. Leonard Wood Army Pvt. Kenneth C. Strong, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted S. Strong of American Fork, recently completed an engineer equipment maintenance course at the US Army Training Center, Engineer, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. The course prepares students to perform maintenance on engineer construction and support type equipment. The important part of the show is the exhibitors, men, women, teens, children, special groups or clubs are all invited to participate. par-ticipate. Aleta Tidwell, a respiratory therapist at the American Fork Hospital, has been selected as hospital "Employee of the Month." Mrs. Tidwell was raised near Grand Rapids, Michigan, and attended BYU for two years. She trained in respiratory therapy at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids, then moved to Orem and worked at Utah Valley Hospital. She became a certified therapist in 1973. She started Payson Hospital's Respiratory Therapy Department before moving to American Fork Hospital five years ago. She now resides in Riverton and has three step-sons and one grandson. She is described as be!ng very efficient in the performance of her duties in the Respiratory Therapy Department; able to handle a full patient load and still fir- ''me for all the little things that need to be done.
