"This was tyA an overnight process," said Jay FugaL, president presi-dent of the Student Alumni Board. The idea for the name change was prompted by interaction in-teraction with similar groups from other universities, many of which had the name "Alumni "Alum-ni Board" instead of "Alumni Association." After discussing and debating the proposed name with the Student Alumni Association Council over a period pe-riod of several weeks, it was then put to a vote and passed. The name change coincides closely with the transit ion from UVSCtoLVU. The decision was made that if we were going to change our ' name and our image, it should be done now, when the school as a whole is changing," said FugaL The purpose of the Student Alumni Board is to work with UVSC students to help them gain an appreciation for their school. This includes activities such as the recent "Giving of the Green" campaign, which enabled students who donated $50 to UVSCs new library to have their name included on a plaque that will be displayed on campus. The Student Alumni Board also celebrates UVSC Founder's Day, which is the College's birthday, with cake and ice cream in the hallways of the schooL "We want to create a lifelong life-long relationship between students stu-dents and UVSC," said FugaL "Our mission is to create a bond between the students, the school and its alumni" Corey M.
