Utah Regional Ballet Legend of Timpanogos to open Friday Uah Regional BaJlet, will perform its award-winning award-winning baltet. "Legend of Timpanogos," this Friday and Saturdayat the Covey Center for the Arts in Provo. Perfw-mances Perfw-mances begin at 7-i p.m. Saturday will feature a matinee performance at 2 p.m. as well as an evening performance perfor-mance at the regular time. This ballet is a Tilling of a Nez Perce Indian legend about a young Indian maiden who falls in love with a brave from a neighboring tribe. It is her reclining figure one sees in Mount Timpanogos, watching watch-ing over the valley of Utah County. Julius Chavez, trained by a Navajo Indian medicine-man will dance the part of the Chieftain. Chief-tain. Also acting as the ballet's cuB ural consultant, his extensive exten-sive background and knowledge knowl-edge of the traditional native American culture, has made it possible for the ballot to incorporate in-corporate authentic American Indian sign language and other elements into the ballet. Inspired by the k?gend from early Native American lore of the tribe living in the area, the ballet features the choreography chore-ography and artistic direction of Jacqueline Coliedge and an original musical score composed com-posed bv another local artist.
