Ernest Carey, who has been serving as interim dean for the School of Computing & TecliiKlogy has been named as dean. Carey serv ed as associate dean for two years, and one year as interim dean. 'I've g'Tt the best job on campus." he said- "This is a great school and has a lot of interesting programs. As dean, 1 hope to maintain the currency of our techfKkgy. and add more breadth and depth to all our programs." Kathie Obenham. associate dean for the School of Humanities. Human-ities. Arts & Social Sciences (HASSk has been appointed as interim dean for the School after William Cobb announced he would be stepping down as dean and returning as faculty in the History Department. A tenured Professor of Dance, Debenhiim has served as a Department Chair and Associate Associ-ate Dean in the School and has held univeTsity-wjde positions of leadership. David Yells, depart de-part men! chair and associate professor in the Behavioral Science Department has been asked to serve as interim associate as-sociate dean within the School of HASS. William Cobb served as dean of the School of Humanities, Humani-ties, Arts & Social Sciences for approximately six years, preparing the school to make the transition to university status. Under his direction, new degrees and programs w ere added to the school's offerings, of-ferings, significant donations have been made to endow scholarships and efforts have increased to fund a new performing per-forming arts building. THEFT - Officer Ryan Porter did a nice job Thursday morning, morn-ing, Jan 3, of running down a gas skip suspect that filled up his truck with S51 worth of gasoline gaso-line gnd then drove off. Officer Porter watched store video of the suspect as he Filled the tank and made no effort to either use a credit card or enter the 7-11 Store before speeding away. The first three numbers of the license plate were all that was visible from the video, but using us-ing information from the police data base, a suspect vehicle was identified. Officer Porter went by the Or em home and found the truck. He could verify it by the fact that there were dents and a window sticker that could be identified from the video. When interviewed, the owner of the truck, 23-year-old Julio Ramirez, of Orem, stated that he didn't have enough money to pay for the gas so he left. When asked why he didn't go in and discuss it with the clerk at 7-11, he said it never occurred to him.
