Orem studio's stars shining brightly on TV, in film Michael Rigert NORTH COUNTY STAFF Call it a performing arts powerhouse or a superstar dance factory, but Orem's Center Stage Performing Arts Studio has recently become a virtual talent pipeline for some of America's most popular reality TV programs and films. The phenomena began a little less than two years ago when Ashly Delgrosso of Highland, daughter of Center Stage co-owner Kim Delgrosso, Delgros-so, landed a role as a professional dance partner on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars." One of six dancing Delgrosso sisters who have all trained since childhood at Center Stage, Ashly Delgrosso, 24, was paired with three celebrities in each of the program's first three seasons. "It was very different every season but it was life changing in a way," she said. "From each celebrity ce-lebrity I learned something." During the filming of season two of "Dancing with the Stars," Ashly Delgrosso met producer Michael Costa, whom she dated and has since married. More than 600 beetles were collected by the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food last summer in three Orem neighborhoods Geneva, Suncrest and Orem North areas. The area of infestation is bordered by the following streets: 800 North, State Street, 400 South, and lnterstate-15. CROSSING GUARDS GET NEW VESTS Orem crossing guards doubt anyone will be overlooking them with their new neon yellow vests. The safety vests were a donation from OlsenBeal, a Utah contractor and engineering engi-neering company, and the Shoe Fairy organization, run by Wendy Olsen. "These guys are protecting our kids and we need to protect them," Olsen said. The crossing guards said they always have close calls, and are surprised more kids aren't hurt by cars in Orem. "You just get used to the cars not seeing see-ing you," said JoEllen Throckmorton, a crossing guard at Orem Elementary. "Can you see me now?" Throckmorton said the old orange vests faded after less than a year, the Velcro broke over time and they had become an excuse for speeding drivers in school zones. Some of the crossing guards said they had used the same one over several years, or had only had one replacement in 10 years.
