That's what J worked on the most this summer." But Lamb, his coaches and his teammates know that the senior still has areas that need improvement. "Tanner (Lamb) is an intense player," Tiger senior forward Brian Gonzalez said. "In the last two years, he's got a number of technical fouls. Over the summer sum-mer he worked on it and he's calmed it down. It's helped him a lot. He's a lot smarter than he used to be. He's great team player and a leader." Foul trouble has plagued Lamb throughout his basketball career. He said that at time he believes he can block anybody's shot and that has caused problems. prob-lems. "If I was coaching agaiast him, I'd try to get him in foul trouble," Conner said. "Sometimes "Some-times he makes stupid fouls. We tease him that we have to have a sub ready for Tanner (Lamb) because he'll have three fouLs in the first quarter." But although Lamb plays with a lot of competitiveness and intensity, Conner said there's another side to him. "He's fiery, competitive, and never wants to lose." the head coach said. "He's competitive as all get out even on two-on-two drills. Yet there's a compassion to him. He looks out for the younger players. He doesn't want people to see that, but he's a big softy." Lamb's success doesn't stop when he walks out of the gym. While the Tigers need Lamb to have a good season to reach their goals, he hopes that good play will also attract more collegiate col-legiate interest. "I know he's trying to work on his quickness because he'd be a guard in college." Cusick said. "I know he definitely wants play in college and I think he can." But no matter where Lamb ends up at the next level Conner Con-ner believes Lamb will be successful suc-cessful because of his determine: determi-ne: ion. "The state tournament comes and he's here the first day of practice. prac-tice. He'd lost 15 or 20 pounds. I didn't hardly let him practice and he said. 'Coach, let me practice.' He told me he was playing. And he played. V.'e wouldn't have been near where we were without him." Although he played through the sickness and hit the huge shot.
