Hard-to-find materials including includ-ing custom-dyed colors, metallic and silk threads and tiny beads are carefully organized, while completed projects in a range of styles and sizes line the walls. It is that very variety that sparked Diane Colebeck's frustration 13 years ago and inspired her to open the small business in Orem. "I could not find the kinds of fabrics and threads 1 wanted to work with," said Colebeck, who designs her own patterns and features much of her work in the store. Today) Diane's Cross Stitch stocks an extraordinary range of materials. Both beginning and advanced stitchers can find everything they need to complete any project. proj-ect. Full project supplies range from $10 to $100, including the fabric, pattern, threads and other supplies. Non-stitchers can take advantage advan-tage of gift certificates and the in-store wish book where customers cus-tomers can request specific materials, ma-terials, making gift-giving easy even for the inexperienced. But Colebeck offers more than just merchandise. During the fall and winter, intermediate and advanced classes are available that focus on using unique materials. Beginners can also seek personalized per-sonalized advice and instruction any time. "It's not that difficult to do basic counted cross stitch," said Colebeck. "It just takes time."
