Alex Stiles The night that Alex Stiles was born in Fairfax, VA a fire began that could not be quenched. Actually, the fire alarm was triggered trig-gered that night because of a blanket warmer, but the fire being referred to is a metaphor-icalone, metaphor-icalone, a passion for life. Though sometimes shy, Alex has found outlets for this passion through a variety of activities and hobbies, ranging form finding high adventure adven-ture in the boundary waters of Minnesota with his Boy Scout Troop, to designing inventions that he hopes will one day change the world for the better. He was able to gain a greater understanding of other cultures during a five-month stay in Bangladesh with his family, and his recent move to Utah from Wisconsin has helped him to learn how to meet new people and overcome his shyness. However, if any one thing has helped Alex to be able to communicate commu-nicate his ideas is his love of theater the-ater and music. Currently Alex is planning for college and working hard to be accepted to MIT, where he hopes to study to become an aerospace engineer. When he's not doing homework for his full load of classes, building a backup power system for the schools aquarium, rehearsing for the school's spring musical, or training for this year's Salt Ike City Marathon, he likes to relax by cooking, perhaps a Black Forest Cake from Scratch. I felt important. I tried out for students council coun-cil again, but unfortunately I lost again. I tried out for Orem High soccer and continue to play even today. I worked until a chance came around for student council again. There is a new constitution constitu-tion at Orem High and the new system opened up a whole new branch of student government. I took a chance and jumped for the legislative branch. I have recently recent-ly received that position and am now waiting for the summer so meetings can start. I hope I will be able to make a difference in this school.
