Show Times Newspaper Thursday, October 2, 2003 Page A5 Temple Square Concerts for October Seven outstanding concerts con-certs are scheduled for the October 2003 Temple Square Concert Series, five in the Assembly Hall and two as noted below in the Tabernacle, all with 7:30 p.m. starting times. The concerts arc a cultural cul-tural gift to the community by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and are free and open to the public. Following standard stan-dard concert protocol, children chil-dren under eight years of age are encouraged to visit other venues. Friday, October 10-- Hong Kong pianist Tanya Bannister, winner of the 2003 Concert Artist Guild International Competition, will perform Bach's Prelude and Fugue in E flat minor, BK1: Ladermann's Three Etudes; Beethoven's Moonlight in C sharp minor, Op. 27, No. 2; Janacek's In the Mist; Prokofiev's Prelude; and Chopin's Ballade No. 4 in F minor, Op. 52. Bannister tours throughout the world on an energetic concert schedule. Saturday, October 11-- The Utah All-State Band, Choir, and Orchestra, composed com-posed of outstanding high school musicians from throughout the state of Utah, will perform in the Tabernacle. This annual concert is often a standing-room-only event for which free tickets are required: Call 240-0080 Friday, October 17- The Temple Square Chorale and Ensemble, under the direction of Mack Wilberg, will perform in the tabernacle. Saturday, October 18-- The Church Relief Society Music Festival, featuring original religious musical pieces submitted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be presented. Works are from Latter-day Saint composers throughout the world. Friday, October 24-- The Orchestra of Sandy City (formerly the American West Symphony), conducted by Joel Rosenber, will perform Berlioz's Roman Carnival Overture, Op.9; Villa-Lobos' Villa-Lobos' The Little Train on the Caipira; Brahms' Hungarian Dance No. 4; Hoist's Jupiter from the planets; Shostakovitch's Etude in Eb minor; and Barber's Overture to the School for Scandal, Op.3. Saturday, October 25-- The 100-voice Wasatch OBITUARIES ... m fi K Mm- FLORA COOK April 15, 1924, in Manila, Daggett Co, Utah. Their marriage mar-riage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He died in 1951. Flora grew up in Sweetwater County. She lived in Nephi, Juab Co, Utah from 1924-19 41 until moving to Provo, where along with her husband helped build the Sunset Ward Chapel. Married Kenneth S. Cook of Orem February 1956 and moved to Orem. She was an active member o f the LDS Church, serving and teaching in every organization of the church, serving as a visiting teacher from age 13 to 94. She was a Provo Temple Worker for ten years. Loved to sew and knit. But her greatest love were her children chil-dren and grandchildren. S he is survived by her children, L. Carl (Jeannett) Broadhead, Alene B. Bryant, 30 gr andchildren, 87 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren and by 4 stepchildren Stanley, Marlene, and Sterling and Ronald Cook. She was preceded pre-ceded in death by 8 children, Frank T Broadhead, Donna Stickney, twins Carol Lee and Ferrell Broadhead, Alden D. Broadhead, Mary Schultz & and her twin Max Broadhead, Jeanene Wolfe. Funeral services were held Monday, September 29, 2003, at 12 noon in the Sharon Park 7th Ward Chapel, 85 East 700 North in Orem. Friends called Sunday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street in Orem and also Monday from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the ward chapel. Interment was in the Provo City Cemetery. A lunch was held at the church after the interment. Friday, October 31-- The Utah State University Chamber Singers, under the direction of Cory Evans, will perform Puccini's Requiem; selections selec-tions from Durufle's Requiem; and a number of other works focusing on an Autum theme.
