Inglish also mentioned having electronic elec-tronic bus passes, so passengers passen-gers can slide their cards and a machine will delete the appropriate appro-priate amount. "We're always looking at ways to increase ridership," Inglish said. UTA now has an Ecopass program, in which students from UVSC, BYU and the University of Utah can ride for free, because their passes were prepaid by school officials.' Weber State will soon adapt the program as well, Inglish said. He stressed that businesses with 35 employees or more can purchase similar packages for employees. Inglish said it is hard to say when all these new changes will take place. "We're all hit by this economy." He said officials will organize organ-ize a design plan from now until 2004. John Inglish, general manager of UTA, talked about Utah's transportation trans-portation Issues at the ProvoOrem Chamber of Commerce's First Friday Forum last Friday. Fourth of July Parade offering reserved seats For the first time ever, America's Freedom Festival at Provo is offering to the public reserved bleacher seating for those attending the Grand Parade on the 4th of July. For $5, spectators can purchase a seat in a series of bleachers placed along the parade route stretching from 1000 North University Avenue to 900 East Center Street in Provo. "We want to offer this service to those who prefer not to camp out all night or arrive at five o'clock in the morning to get a good spot to watch the parade," said David Pratt, vice chair of the parade for 2002. Tickets are available at the Freedom Festival office in the Historic County Courthouse in downtown Provo at 51 South University Avenue, Suite 317. Parade tickets are on sale there from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and the Festival accepts major credit cards, checks, or cash. Tickets must be purchased in person; no telephone purchases are available. In addition to reserved bleacher seating, parade spectators spec-tators will hear a special broadcast broad-cast of the parade from their seats, according to Mr. Pratt. "Even though they have reserved seating, we urge those holding these tickets to arrive early to make sure they can reach their seats in time," Pratt added. "Once the parade starts at 9 a.m. we will release all unoccupied seats to the public," he said. For further information, call 370-8052. Amy Josephine Rowe died on June 8, 2002. The Singles Ward follows a recent trend of motion pictures with an LDS theme and setting. The movie follows the lives of several twenty-something young men and women who live in a, you guessed it, Singles Ward. The movie was released in Utah, Idaho and Arizona and is scheduled to be released in California in July. Now the group is trying to repeat that same success with its newest venture, The R.M. It is a comedy based on the experiences of a recently returned LDS missionary but do not look at your theatre for it just yet. Halestorm just started casting the film and held auditions audi-tions Monday. A 2002 Toyota Tundra pickup truck was stolen sometime Tuesday night (June 4) from the driveway of a home in the area of 400 W. 200 S. A guy was arrested June 5 for stealing cash from K-Mart, where he worked. There was video evidence of the theft. Officer Shane Fredrickson made a traffic stop on a car the suspect was in several hours after taking the theft report at the store. When he spoke to the suspect, he gave Officer Fredrickson his real last name, but a different first name. The officer said, "I think your first name is really Phillip, but 111 give you a chance to spell Anthony. The pressure was on. After a couple of failed attempts, the suspect finally buckled. He fessed up that he was Phillip, and he could spell that if the officer wanted. The $500 stolen cash from the store was recovered, as well as marijuana the suspect was holding. He was booked into the Utah County Jail for theft and possession of drugs, and the additional charge of giving false information to an officer.
