Help coordinate donations Alpine House is a transitional transition-al home for individuals with mental illness ages 18 and older. The purpose of Alpine House is to help residents learn basic skills to function in society. socie-ty. "The primary function of the Alpine House is to get the residents resi-dents to take baby steps into the community. The ultimate goal is for all of them to have their own place," said house parent Tricia Bennet. Residents stay at Alpine .House between three-months to-five to-five years or until they feel they are ready to leave. "Some of our residents would be living on the streets if they weren't living here," said Tricia. The Alpine House provides meals, maintains main-tains a safe home environment, and teaches communication skills. "We are like one big family fami-ly here and help each other out," said Tricia, as she explained how residents help each other with their daily chores. In addition to daily chores, residents take care of their own living space and obey house rules. Some residents work part-time or attend school. Residents also go to counseling therapy coordinated through Wasatach Mental Health. Currently, Alpine House is in transition as many residents to become self-sufficient in the community and new residents move in.
