NuSkin, under the leadership of Steve Lund, has developed a partnership with Franklin Elementary, a central Provo school. Students from Franklin have created drawings for the company's lobby and have ridden on the company float during the Fourth of July Parade. In return, NSE has provided annual funding fund-ing for books, science kits and other supplies and sent employees employ-ees to the school to mentor, tutor students, repair books and plant ff rl trees. The company has also do- nated binders, bags, computers and flowers to Franklin. The Business Beautification Award was given to Taylor Brothers Building located at 155 N. Center Street. William M Bancroft acquired the Taylor Brother Building in 1994 and began a restoration program that ran in excess of $1 million above the cost of the historic his-toric property. The Taylor brothers, broth-ers, who built the Taylor Brothers Broth-ers Building, were part of a family fam-ily that helped build Provo's commercial com-mercial district in the 1800s. The Provo Albertson's stores were honored with the Environmental Quality Award for their energy conservation con-servation efforts. Albertson's Inc, has directed stores across the Northwest to dim the lights by as much as 50 percent. Albertson's effort alone has saved enough energy to power more than 22.000 homes each ProvoOrem Chamber of Commerce Monthly Gm0 day. Provo's two Albertson's stores began in February with this effort, which has been hailed 3 a great example of business leadership lead-ership during a time of scarce resources. The Community Service Award went to Karen Campbell Stuart for her work with the Mountain Valley Val-ley Chapter of the American Red Cross. Almost ten years ago Karen set out to help prepare Provo City and surrounding communities to Newsletter 17l?dIS become disaster resistant. She has co-authored an extensive disaster di-saster plan for the Mountain Valley Val-ley Chapter of the American Red Cross and has inspired more than 300 people to become certified certi-fied disaster responders. Brent Estes with Unison Inc is this year's recipient of the Chamber Chairman's Award. Brent Estes is the President of Unison, Inc., a SalesLogix Business Partner and GoldMine Solutions Partner based in Utah County. Unison sells, trains, and customizes cus-tomizes Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software for small and medium-sized companies compa-nies in the Rocky Mountain Region. Re-gion. Estes has made significant contributions to the operation of the Chamber's database and communication system. Organizers of the event said the awards are an important service ser-vice the Chamber provides to the Provo community.
