(ELI) received Orem City Council Coun-cil approval July 9 on an agreement agree-ment between the company and the city that would provide ELI right-of-way access to establish a temporary connection to a HUB in Orem while awaiting completion of a city telecommunications telecom-munications ordinance. . Assistant City Manager Jim Reams, who presented the item to the council, said the fiber optic lines would be aerial and would be connected to existing lines put in by North Star. If future franchise requirements call for the burial of the lines, the company com-pany has agreed to do that, he said. . . A map showed the lines coming com-ing from Lindon and going south on St. Str. to 800 N., then over to 1200 W. and south to 400 S. Reams said the Telecom-, Telecom-, munications Act passed by Congress Con-gress in February of 1996 has changed the world of telecommunications. telecom-munications.
