Show Orem-Geneva Times Wednesday, August 2, 1995 Page 4 Micron vice president to speak at Chamber function Kipp Bedard, vice president and manager of investor relations at Micron Technology, will address ProvoOrem Chamber of Commerce Com-merce members August 4 at the First Friday Forum luncheon from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Provo Park Hotel. He will speak on the impact that Micron will have on Utah Valley. Bedard has been with Micron since 1983. He worked in the accounting ac-counting department and then was named manager of Micron's Systems Sys-tems Group, which was formed in 1984. The Systems Group, now called Micron Systems Integration, developed value-added products such as add-in memory boards for personal computers and related system-level poroducts, such as a proprietary burn-in and test system, sys-tem, called AMBYX, which is used in the company's manufacturing manufac-turing facility. Bedard received his bachelor of business administration degree from Boise State University, Boise, Idaho. He is very active in his community com-munity as a board member of the following organizations: Boise Public Schools Education Foundation, Founda-tion, the Idaho Association of Commerce Com-merce and Industry, Board of Directors for the Bishop Kelly Foundation, Inc., and (chairman of) the Idaho Job Training Council. He also serves on the State of Idaho School-to-Work collaborative team. The Chamber invites everyone to attend a great, networkingkeynote network-ingkeynote speaker luncheon. The cost is $12 if RSVP is received after August 3. Obituaries Denton Roy Abernathy Denton Roy Abernathy, 82, died . peacefully at his home in Orem on Wednesday evening, July 26, 1995. . He was born March 27, 1913, in Cambridge, Idaho, the fourth of four Bona of Harry and Goldie Abernathy. He married Bernice C Blackham in Ely, Nevada, on November 26, 1949and immediately became Pop to a daughter, Mary Blackham Hall, recently deceased, and two sons, Angus U. Blackham of Orem, and Samuel M. Blackham of Provo. He served in the United State Navy during World War II. He worked for a time as a switchman on the railroad for Kennecott Copper in Ruth, Nevada. For most of his life he was a barber in his own barbershop in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his wife of 46 years; two stepsons; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who dearly love him and will miss him. He was kind and giving to his family and friends and was never happier than when he had them close by. Family memorial services were held July 28, 1995, in Orem, under the direction of Walker Sanderson Funeral Home of Orem. Graveside services were held July 31, 1995, at 12 noon in the Bunker's Eden Vale Cemetery in Las Vegas. John LaMerrill Myers John LaMerrill Myers, age 55, of Lehi, died July 24, 1995, of heart failure. He was the brother of Vaughn Earl Myers of Orem. Ruth Mitchell Bahr Ruth Mitchell Bahr, age 78, of Lehi, passed away on July 26, 1995. She was the mother of W. Alan (Connie) (Con-nie) Bahr of Orem. Theo S. Aston Theo S. Aston, 75, passed away July 24, 1995, after struggling to recuperate from surgery in March, 1995. Orem survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Moore, and a brother, Don Aston. Leland Culbert Laney Leland Culbert Laney, 90, died July 24, 1995. He was the father of Mrs. Ann JacoBsen of Orem. Howard Lee Curtin Howard Lee Curtin, 73, of Provo, and former long-time resident of Orem, died Sunday, July 30, at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo. He was born January 31,1922, in Santa Monica, California, a son of Thomas and Lillian Titchner Curtin. He married Frances Mildred Adams February 16, 1941, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was educated in California and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an aircraft mechanic in California for several years. He moved with his family to Orem where they resided for about 25 years. He owned and operated a gas station in Provo and worked there as an auto mechanic. He worked for and retired from the Sears Service Center in Provo. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, fisher-man, and RVer. He is survived by his wife of Provo; his children and spouses: Howard Roy and Pat Curtin, Highland; Nancy and Kurt Weaver, Cypress, CA; Janet and Gary Ekins, Tooele; ' Pat and Larry Haynes, Provo; 20 grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; two brothers: Arthur N. Curtin, Riverside, CA; and Donald Ray Curtin, Trona, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Tom Curtin and Andrew G. Curtin. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 3, 1995, at 11 a.m. in the Highland 14th Ward Chapel, 10400 N. 6000 West, Highland. Friends may call Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 600 E. 800 N., Orem, and Thursday at the ward chapel from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the American Fork City Cemetery. Clifton Evans Clifton Evans, 61, of Spanish Fork, died July 28, 1995, at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo.
