Orem jumped out to an early lead that the Jaguars never contested. 'We were hot," Louder commented. com-mented. "We came out very fast and shot the ball very well." Orem's inside stand-bys, Eric Crow and Jordan Heaps, dominated the key all night. Crow had 22 points in Orem's win while Heaps added 20. Terry Andersen contributed 15 points for the Tigers. Orem 50 Timpview 49 The win didn't look as easy Friday night, when the Tigers hosted former 4A adversaries, Timpview. "They played us a good game," Louder commented. The T-Birds, whose second place state finish last season earned them some carry-over respect,' came out ready to play. Orem answered with a tough defense that made up for a slow shooting night. With nearly a minute remaining remain-ing in the game, both squads were deadlocked at 46-46. A Timpview foul sent Jordan Heaps to the free throw line. Heaps hit both free throws to set Orem up 48-46. The Tiger defense kept the T-Birds from the bucket, as another Timpview foul put Tiger guard Shane Belliston on the free-throw line. Belliston clinched the shots that capped Orem's win. Seconds later, Timpview hit a buzzer three-point shot that made Belliston's two all the more important. im-portant. Heaps led Orem with 12 points, while Andersen had 10. Orem meets a scrappy Spanish Fork team tonight at the Dons' home court. Friday, the Tigers take on another former 4A foe, Provo. Game time for both games is 7:30. Orem girls defeat Dons, Royals By Gina Clark Sportwriter Orem 58 Spanish Fork 15 When the Dons came to Orem Tuesday night, they likely didn't expect to be so overmatched. But in Tuesday's match-up with Orem, Tiger Coach Debbie Zirbes' , team handled Spanish Fork. The Dons scored just 15 points to Orem's 58 as the Tigers picked up their second win. But just because it looked easy, it was a little frustrating for Orem. "I don't like games like 1 that very well-except for the fact that everyone gets to play," Zirbes said. "We really could have even played better?' Orem 35 Roy 25 In their match-up with Roy Thursday, Orem battled their way to a third win despite a poor shooting night. The Tigers were 6" for 18 from the line and shot just 30 from the field, Zirbes. said, but were still able to seal the win. "We played great defensively," Zirbes commented. Angie Hall and Adrienne Honeycutt each had seven points in Orem's 35-25 win. At this point, the Tigers are happy with their three win start. "I think the jury's still out on how good we are," Zirbes said, adding that the Tigers are "cautiously optimistic." Yesterday Orem faced Taylorsville, a team that took fourth in state last season. An effective press and tough defense on Warriors' stronginside players is key to an Orem win, Zirbes said. Orem continues their schedule Friday when they travel to Payson.
