Show PORTS Page 7 Orem-Geneva Times Wednesday, September 16, 1992 Orem Tigers take a dive and lose 31-18 to Springville Red Devils By Kemari Rawlings In the Tigers third game of the season and their last preseason match up, they went down hard against the Springville Red Devils losing 31-18. Although the Red Devils are only a 3A division team they were looking forward too and ready to take on the usually powerful Tigers from Orem. So far this year the Red Devils have put together an incredible in-credible team and defeating the Tigers was something that would add to their success and confidence. Orem didn't appear to be the slightest bit worried early in the first quarter as they took the ball down to the Springville 10 yard line and prepared to score. Garrett Deucher did his best to try to get the ball into the endzone but the Springville defense had other ideas. The Tigers had to settle for a Brandon Wood 22 yard field goal to put Orem on the board first 3-0. Springville wasted no time in retaliating as Jason Walker caught a perfect pass from Red Devil quarterback Jeremy Del-lamas Del-lamas for 20 yards.Due to a penalty on the next down the Devils moved 15 yards closer to scoring and with a minute and fifty-nine seconds left in the first quarter Springville kicker Cody Winterton hit a 27 yard field goal to tie the game 3-3. The entire second quarter belonged to the Red Devils. Del-lamas Del-lamas threw a 14 yard pass to Walker as he bolted into the endzone to give Springville the Waterfowl season dates set The state has again been divided into hunting "zones" for the 1992-93 waterfowl season to allow for maximum hunting opportunity op-portunity within federal season date guidelines. Due to a Tiger fumble, Springville came up with the ball on Orem's 30 yardline.Roah O'Reilly O'-Reilly put 6 more points on the board for Springville to give his team the lead 17-3. With turnovers plaguing the Tigers, Springville struck again.this time from the Orem 45.Dellamas found Doug Johnston for a 17 yard touch pass that again gave Springville a boost 24-3. After a frustrating first half, the Tigers pounced back.Matt Harper went one yard for touchdown touch-down to apply some pressure to the already confident Red Devils 24-10. The pressure melted away as Springville scored again when O'Reilly went 15 yards on a draw play to give the Tiger's opponents their final score and clinch the game 31-10. Staging a comeback would not be an easy but the Tigers came to life, this final quarter as well as the entire game had been an offensive of-fensive struggle however, Orem pulled out one more scoring drive to lesson the Red Devil lead. After a few short passes, a 35 yard pass to Matt Jackman, and a fumble recovery by Brandon Wood the Tigers managed eight more points and closed the game 31-18. Springville quarterback Jeremy Dellamas was unstoppable unstop-pable he dominated the game and led his team going completing 13 of 23 passes and passing for 183 yards. Orem quarterback Garrett Deucher completed 12 of 23 passes pas-ses and racked up 111 yards. Turn overs and mistakes on the Tiger's part, gave the game to Springville and made it almost impossible to come back. Preseason is over for Orem but now the games really begin. They can still come back and win bigin the regular season and that is exactly what they are planning to due.
