WILKINSON AND PETER K FREEMAN Stephanie Wilkinson to marry Peter Freeman Stephanie Evelyn Wilkinson, daughter of Ron and Darla Wilkinson, of Orem, will marry Peter K. Freeman, son of Sam and Kay Freeman, of Orem, on Thursday, Sept. 27, 1990 in the Manti LDS Temple. A reception will honor the couple that evening, 5:30-7:00, at the home of the bride's parents. A program and dance will follow the reception from 7:00-8:30. The event is open to all friends and relatives. The bride-elect was graduated from Orem High School and LDS Seminary. She received her B.A. from the College Col-lege of Communications at Brigham Young University. She served an LDS mission in Frankfurt, Germany. She teaches communication classes at BYU, while working on her master's degree de-gree in Mass Communications. She is V.P and consultant for A.I.M. for Excellence. He fiance is a graduate of Orem High School and LDS Seminary. Semi-nary. He served an LDS mission in Puerto Rico. He attends Utah Valley Community College, majoring in Computer Science. He is employed full time by Tel Electronics in American Fork as a technician. The couple will live in Provo. Two concerts slated at BYU An Evening of Concertos, featuring six competition winners ?erforming with the Brigham bung University Philharmonic Orchestra, will take place Oct 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center. ' The winners, selected from a field of 250 instrumentalists, include in-clude Lynette Leavitt, flute; Carmen Car-men Hall, piano; Cybele Stevenson, Steven-son, violin; Bret Cook, trombone; JoEllen Turley, saxophone, and Steven Thomas, piano. According to clyn Barrus, director direc-tor of the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra, Or-chestra, "These students are all pursuing professional careers. The quality of tins type is as strong as anyone would find anywhere in the country." Tickets for An Evening of Concertos Con-certos are available at the Music Ticket Office, Harris Fine Arts Center. Admission is $4 with BYU ID and $5 for the general public. FREE BRASSWORKS CONCERT BYUs resident brass quintet, Brassworks, will perform oct. 3 in the Madsen Recital Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. The Brassworks performers include in-clude Steve Call, tuba and euphonium; Daniel Bachelder, trombone and euphonium; Gaylen Hatton, French horn; Bret Jackson, Jack-son, trumpet; and David Blackin-ton, Blackin-ton, trumpet. Brassworks players all have a rich background directing and teaching. Call is the director of the Jazz Ensemble and the Dixieland Band and an instructor of tuba and euphonium. Bachelder is the director of the Trombone and Brass Choirs. Hatton is a composer and French horn instructor. Jackson is a trumpet instructor, instruc-tor, and Blackinton is the director of the BYU bands. Under the Temporary Emergency Emer-gency Food Assistance Program, (TEFAP) food will be dispersed at the Orem Senior Friendship Center, Cen-ter, (93 North 400 East) on Tuesday, Tues-day, October 2 to all eligible' Seniors who reside in Orem. Food ; items to be given are Honey,' Flour, Peanut Butter and Butter 1 (only one butter per unit). There. , will be only one unit per-. household. Seniors should bring their own containers in which to . transport the food. Doors open ' promptly at 8:30 a.m. and close at 1 3 p.m. ; Flue shots will be offered at the Center on Friday, October 5 -from 12:30-3 p.m. to all Seniors in the area. There will be a small charge ($5.00) for the serum.; Checks should be made payable to City-County Health Department Depart-ment (CCHD). The Friendship center will be closed Monday, Oct. 1, in ; preparation for TEFAP. No lunch , will be served on that day. Seniors Day at the Legislature Legisla-ture has been set for February 6, . 1991. It is an all-day affair where Seniors get the opportunity to show our Legislators how con- -cerned we are with what they are ; doing for, to, and about Senior t Citizens. Seniors this is a chance ' to make your voices heard where it counts. Let's make it a "Standing "Stand-ing Room" only. Buses will be provided for transportation. Medicare and Medicaid are extremely complicated services that confuse everyone, especially Senior Citizens! When questions arise pertaining to benefits under these programs, half the battle is . finding someone who has the answers. The U.S. Health Financing Administration has published a list of questions and corresponding offices to call. v These will be posted on the bul-r. letin board at the Orem Senior Center. A copy will also be kept on file in the office and will be , available to interested Seniors. Karen Heckman, guest speaker at the Sept. 19 meeting of the Orem Womens Club, told about her six-month stay in Russia Rus-sia with her two children and her ; husband who was on assignment to the Soviet Union. She also , showed slides she had taken while there. The meeting was held in the City Center multi-purpose room. Heckman said her knowledge of the Russian language facilitated her travel in Russia but felt she was followed ; wherever she went. She wasn't sure whether it was for her protection or not She learned that the "Oklahoma" comes to UVCC Utah Valley Community College Col-lege (UVCC) will open this years theater season with the musical "Oklahoma." The September 27 performance perfor-mance is a Dinner Theater and tickets must be purchased in advance ad-vance by calling UVCC at 222-8000 222-8000 ext. 612. Dinner theater tickets are $6 for students with ED and $10 for the general public. A special performance on Sep tember 29 at 3:30 will be held for the UVCC Alumni Association. The fortunate ones bought not only for themselves but their neighbors as well. Karen said she was well received by the Russian people and she made many friends while there. Musical entertainment for the meeting was provided by Helen Sowly's grandchildren. Kirstin played a flute solo, "Angel's Serenade" and Craig followed with Hayden's "Concerto No. 2 in G Major for violin. They concluded con-cluded with a duet "Love One Another." They were accompanied accom-panied on piano by their mother. The next club meeting is Oct. 3 at the City Center. Paulina Jol-ley Jol-ley will speak about the Miss Orem Scholarship Pageant.
