The Boy's Life of the 1990s will reach a more varied group of leaders across a wider range of ages than ever before, says William Wil-liam McMorris, editor-in-chief of the magazine. Some of the magazine's changes have been made to assist younger readers and to provide a more visually appealing design for older readers. McMorris says, today's Boy's Life reader is beset by distractions distrac-tions which lure him away from the participatory act of reading into the role of passive receptor. Readers are also influenced by widespread decline in reading interest in-terest and ability at about the third grade, he said. The new look of the magazine includes using larger type and greater use of color, illustrations, ; photographs, and other graphic i devices designed to appeal to that f age etoud.
