LaMar Stanley, 67, died Mon day, Aug. 28, 1989 at his home in Mona, after a long illness. He was born May 9, 1922, in Nephi, to James R. and Elena HasseL Stanley. He married Lila Kay, Aug. 28, 1942, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was the brother of Daryl Stanley Stan-ley of Orem. Funeral was Thursday in Mona LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Mona Cemetery. Homer Brown Homer H. "Chief Brown, 68, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 1989 of cancer. He was born Sept 7, 1920, in Glendale, Ark., to Joseph Abner and Lula Sallie Johnson Brown. He married mar-ried Orva Hunt in 1941 in Olympia, Wash. She died in July 1975. He married mar-ried Gloria Olsen. They divorced in 1982. He was the father of Mrs. Lee (Charlene) Isakson of Orem. Funeral was Thursday in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, Provo. Burial was in the Provo City Cemetery. Betty Gruwell Betty Jane Wolfe Gruwell, 65, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 1989, at her home in Orem. She was born March 19, 1924, in Bryant, S.D., to Louis F. and Lena Haufle Wolfe. She married Elmo Lowry Gruwell, July 14, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa, Ariz. LDS Temple. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by her husband, Blythe, Calif.; children: Dr. Elmo L. Gruwell Jr., Provo; Mrs. Terry (Janelle) Young, Valencia, Calif.; Mrs. Richard (Pamela)Brown, Irvine, Calif.; Dr. Mark Gruwell, Signal Mountain, Tenn.; Lcanne Gruwell, Kris R. Gruwell, Orem; 19 grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Lena Wolfe, Bryant, S.D.-brother and siBters: Milton Wolfe, Tenino, Wash.; Mrs. Elsie Steever, Bryant, S.D.; Mrs. Lela Crombie, Redwood City, Calif. Rhea Golding Rhea Burnett Golding, 66, of Springville, formerly of Orem, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 1989, at Utah Valley Val-ley Regional Medical Center following follow-ing a lingering illness. She is survived by her husband of Springville; four sons and one daughter. Funeral was Friday in the 1st-12th 1st-12th Ward LDS Chapel, Provo. Burial was in Wellington Cemetery. Howard Ruff to speak at Republican Women Dinner Elliott Nez Elliott Nez. 46. of Orem. died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 1989 near Rifle, Colo., from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was born May 30, 1943 in Ganado, Ariz., a son of Hoskey and Maxine Johnny Nez. He married Jeanine Russell, June 13, 1983 in Las Vegas, Nev. He worked for the D&RG Railroad Rail-road since May 1975. Hewasworking in Colorado at the time of his accident. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad Rail-road prior to 1975. He loved rodeo, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, and sports. Survivors include his wife of Orem; two sons and two daughters, Albert Nez, Laura Nez, both of Far-mington, Far-mington, N.M.; Levin Nez, Kimberly Nez, both of Evanston, Wyo.; two step daughters, Milika Havili, Alisi Havili, both of Orem; his father, Greasewood, Ariz.; brothers and sisters, Bernard Nez, Holbrook, Ariz.; Kenneth Nez, Ganado, Ariz.; Josephine Long, Mary James, both of Greasewood, Ariz.; Edith Nez, Fort Defiance, Ariz.; Mary Louise Len-hardt, Len-hardt, Greeley, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. His brother, Paul Nez, and his mother preceded him in death. Funeral will be held Saturday, September 9 at 11 a.m. in the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary 495 S. State in Orem. Service also was held last Saturday in Greasewood Catholic church, Greasewood, Ariz. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery. Clara Washburn Clara Broderick Washburn, 64, of Provo, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 1989, in Provo. She was born July 26, 1925, in Roosevelt, to Hillard Ruben and Sarah Louise Ruesch Broderick. She married AlDean Washburn, Sept. 6, 1949, in the Manti LDS Temple. She was raised in Roosevelt where she received her education and graduated from high school. She attended at-tended BYU for two years and then filled an LDS mission to the Eastern Canadian Mission. She graduated from BYU in 1950. Following her marriage they lived in Provo, Blanding, and then in Whit-tier Whit-tier and Ridgecrest, Calif. They returned to Provo in 1976. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had held many positions in the church. She and her husband filled an LDS mission to the Florida, Tampa Mission, being released in 1989. She is survived by her husband, Provo; seven sons and five daughters: Berk Wayne Washburn, Milford, Mich.; Mrs. Wayne (Ann) Smith, Miamisburg, Ohio; Allen B. Washburn, Wash-burn, Mrs. Morgan (Ruth) Sulz, both of Orem; Mrs. Ron (Linda) Wehner, Madison, Ind.; Anderson L. Rex Christofferson Rex Lynn Christofferson, 71, of Beaver Dam, Ariz., died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 1989 at his residence in Beaver Dam, Ariz. He was born Oct. 13, 1917 in Lehi to EINathan Junius and LouElla Peterson Christofferson. He married Elva Lila Morse Sept. 1, 1938 in Provo. Survivors include his wife of Beaver Dam, Ariz.; one daughter and three sons: LouElla Irog, Salt Lake City; Nyle Christofferson, Orem; Dean Christofferson, Vernal, and Val Christofferson, Delta. Funeral services were held Saturday Satur-day in Lehi. Burial was in the Lehi City Cemetery. Ruby Campbell Ruby Rose McQuiston Campbell, 77, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 1989 at her home in Provo. She was born Feb. 28, 1912 in Delta, Colo., a daughter of Ernest and Pansy Gillett McQuiston. She married mar-ried Charlie Campbell, March 11, 1930 in Delta, Colo. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, May 29, 1950. Survivors include her husband, Provo; one son and three daughters: Glen W. Campbell, Orem; Mrs. Reed (Lois C.) Kelson, Mrs. Donald (Dorothy C.) Reese, both of Provo; Mrs. Ned (Doris C.) Lee, of Monroe. Funeral was held Saturday, Sept. 2, in Provo. Burial in East Lawn Memorial Hills, Provo. Howard Ruff, well-known financial advisor, recently returned from Russia, will be the guest speaker at the upcoming Utah County Republican Women's Fall Fundraiser and dinner. Ruff will speak on the subject, "Inside Russia." The dinner din-ner will be held on September 21 at 7 p.m. in the Utah Valley Community Com-munity College Ballroom. Mr. Ruff is widely known as the publisher of Ruff Times, the largest circulation financial newspaper in the country. As chairman of the board for the Jefferson Jef-ferson institute in Springville, he teaches resident courses in business busi-ness and investing. He is also chairman of the board for Ruff Pac, a political action ac-tion committee, and Free the Eagle, a grassroots, free market lobby both located in Washington, Wash-ington, D.C. Mr. Ruff authored the biggest selling financial book in history How to Prosper During the Coming Bad Years, which sold 3.5 million copies. He has had his own TV show for three years and his own radio show for many years. He's been a popular guest on the Today Show, Good Morning America, Donahue, Don-ahue, Oprah, Wall Street Week, and other major shows. Howard Ruff had been to China three times when he and Jack Anderson took 145 Ruff Times subscribers on a fact-finding trip tao Russia in July. They met with the general director of TASS, dissident publishers, pub-lishers, the nation's top economist, secret Christians, Jewish refusenicks, toured the Kremlin, and cruised down the Volga. She was born Sept. 6, 1921, in Vineyard, to Frank and Edna Allen Robinson. She married Grant A. Max-Meld Max-Meld July 23, 1940 in Pleasant Grove. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Survivors include her husband, Pleasant Grove; three sons and two daughters: Paul G. Maxfield, and Mrs. Kent (Janet) Wells, both of Pleasant Grove; Don R. Maxfield, Richfield; Vaughn K. Maxfield, Roy; Mrs. Douglas G. (SueAnn) Jex, Orem.
