Deena Houston News Reporter Canyon .Viewpoint To aid the student council in planning plan-ning school activities, new student body officers were elected last Wednesday at Canyon View Jr. High School. Officers from each grade include in-clude president, vice president, and secretary. , Results of the election are as follows: Tucker Woods was elected president of the 7th grade. Brooke Erickson was chosen as vice president presi-dent and Heather Corrigan was elected secretary. In 8th grade Anne Denney shows the way as president, Kellie Rasmus-son Rasmus-son is vice president, and Michelle Nielson is the secretary. Jon Kerr leads as president of the 9th grade. Russell Ford follows as vice president. Secretary is Scott Brown. As the group begins their responsibilities respon-sibilities as officers, a few guidelines are set up. The officers will each attend at-tend one meeting a month with the student council to discuss issues at Canyon View. Mr. Gino Chewning, administrative assistant at CVJHS, encourages the student body officers to find out what the students want for the school year. According to Mr. Chewning, the officers can then work with the student council in planning activities that the students will enjoy. Jenicee Jacobsen, student body president, at a meeting with the student stu-dent body officers, also reminded them to get involved with activities. She strongly suggested that the officers of-ficers be an example at school, and show the leadership qualities that are required of them. She encouraged them to reflect a positive attitude about school. Now, what do the officers want? Kellie Rasmussen wants to work on educating students on drugs and their effects. Brooke Erickson said, "I am interested in planning more activities and helping lift our school spirit." As a whole, the officers all agree that . , they want to make this school year a ; good one. Stephen Boyd was named nam-ed Executive Director of the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra Tuesday, Sept. 20. That announcement came from Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra Board President Henry Will. "The Board is very pleased with the selection," Mr. Will said. "We feel Steve has tremendous potential to develop the orchestra during the next several years, and he is well suited to that task.
