Orem Athletes honored at awards banauet Seniors Tyler Anderson and . Jeanine Utley were named Athletes of the Year at Orem High's Athletic Awards Banquet last Wednesday. Anderson played wide-receiver for the state champion Tiger football team. He also participated in basketball basket-ball and track, leading Orem's tracksters to a region championship, and second place in state. Jeanine Utley was a key player on the Lady Tiger volleyball and basketball teams, leading the two teams through strong seasons, and intense in-tense state tournament competition. She also participated in track and field, throwing the javelin. Golden Tiger Awards honoring long-time service to the Orem High Athletic program, were presented to Dr. Gary Ridge, Leila Ogden, and Udell Westover. Buffalo meat goes to Twelve hundred pounds of frozen buffalo meat is being donated to charity this week. The meat is from three animals killed during the Antelope Island buffalo roundup last fall. The Utah Division of Parks and Recreation had hoped to auction the meat but decided to donate it to charity chari-ty when questions concerning inspection inspec-tion rules arose. Meat inspectors were on Antelope Island during the roundup roun-dup last November, but were not present pre-sent when the three buffalo were killed. Soccer coaching course scheduled The Utah Youth Soccer Association Associa-tion is sponsoring a soccer coaching clinic June 20-25 at Mountain View High School. The clinic will be under the direction direc-tion of District 5 Head Coach David Woolley, and will provide soccer coaches with theoretical and practical prac-tical training to organize and develop practice sessions, analyze individual and team play, and use modern coaching techniques in their approach to coaching. Woolley is a United States Soccer Federation Coach, English Football Association Coach, and has a Football Association International License. He has been a head soccer coach at the University of Iowa, and at Solon High School, and is presently coaching at Mountain View High School while : pursuing a doctoral degree in sport administration at Brigham Young University. The clinic is scheduled to accommodate accom-modate working schedules with a morning session from 6 to 7:30 a.m. and an evening session from 6 to 9 p.m. Two final sessions on Saturday will conclude the clinic. In Fall sports, other athletes receiving awards were Randy Rhees in golf, Tom Williams and Mary Kay Drake for Cross Country, and Macey Sanderson in Tennis. Quarterback Ed Chatterley was named outstanding athlete in football, while all-state setter set-ter Tasha Poduska was given the volleyball award. Retailers and local outdoor clubs will sponsor the events. These organizations have donated time, talent, money and facilities to introduce youngsters to the enjoyment enjoy-ment of fishing. At the clinics, inexperienced or non-anglers will get some great tips on fishing techniques from veteran anglers. Good sportsmen exhibit certain characteristics whether they are fishing, hunting, hiking or camping. Trespass laws apply to anglers as well as any sport enthusiast. A public fishing stream running through private property is not necessarily open to access even if the angler is wading down the center of the stream. An angler entering posted, private property without the landowner's lan-downer's permission may be guilty of a Class B misdemeanor. Private property pro-perty should be respected at all times, whether posted closed or not. MVHS sponsors basketball clinic Mountain View High School is sponsoring a boy's basketball clinic Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17, for grades three through twelve. The clinic will be under the direction of Mountain View's new head basketball coach, Jim Aikens. A fee of $15 will be charged, and participants can register at the beginning begin-ning of their sessions. Grades 11 and 12 are scheduled from 7 to 9 a.m. Grades 9 and 10 will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. From 1 to 3 p.m. will be grades 6 through 8, and grades 3 through 5 will be from 3 to 5 p.m. , fishing clinic at the Deer Creek Reservoir Reser-voir Island Boat Camp area.
