School Board sets fees School fees set for the coming year show the only increase in current fees to be a five dollar hike in the refundable deposit for all secondary students, according to Gary Keetch, administrator over the secondary schools of the district. He said this is a fee most of the pupils will get back. Some new fees have been added, however, and a truancy fee was approved ap-proved but has not been imposed by the administration. Alpine School District Board of Education approved the fees at the board's monthly business meeting in American Fork. "We realize that additional fees or increases in existing fees create a financial burden for students and parents," said Keetch, "so we have done everything we could to avoid any increases." Keetch said five new lab fees to the junior high schedule were added to help pay for special services such as shop and homemaking. A fee of $20 for Truancy Citation was approved as allowed by the state legislature and permits a district to assess students with truancy violations viola-tions a $20 citation to support the administration ad-ministration of the truancy program. According to Keetch, there has been no inclination at this point to assess this fee. "It was placed on the schedule in order to allow for its adoption adop-tion if it becomes necessary," he said. In other action at the meeting the board gratefully accepted $2,300 cash from Cascade Elementary PTA to be used towards the purchase of a Roneo 8800 Printer and Scanner. Little Caesars of Utah inks six-figure deal with NBA's Utah Jazz Utah Pizza Service, Inc., one of the Little Caesars pizza franchise holders for the state of Utah, inked a, six-figure two-year contract with the National Basketball Association's Utah Jazz recently. The promotional deal is valid uri-' til 1990 and is an extension of U.P.S.' previous one-year agreement with the professional basketball team, said U.P.S. co-owner and vice president Bruce Palenske. "The contract not only proves our ; commitment ot the Utah Jazz but also to the state of Utah," Palenske said. "We were the first to renew our contract." The contract terms outline specific promotional agreements, broadcast schedules supporting the Jazz and an agreement linking Little Caesars Pizza and the Jazz youth programs pro-grams throughout the state. The terms are not as important as the fact that Utah Pizza Service was the first 1987-88 sponsor to renew its contract, Palenske said. "The terms are not as important as the fact that we showed our support to the Jazz and Utah before the team proved prov-ed playoff successful," he said. "It is much easier to support a very successful success-ful organization but we wanted to show our confidence and support to the Jazz no matter what happened in the playoffs." Corporate sponsorships are the heart and soul of the Utah Jazz, according ac-cording to Larry Baum, vice president presi-dent of sales with the team. "The team would be gone if not for our sponsors." If any (sponsor) goes away we would be hurting, he said. "With escalating salaries and the cost of building a championship team in Salt Lake City our sponsors are important in keeping the Jazz here." Palenske added, "Larry H. Miller (owner of the Utah basketball franchise) has shown his support to me and Little Caesars personally. We, wanted to reciprocate that personal display of support by signing this contract con-tract that will be beneficial to both parties." The Jazz recently lost a seven-game seven-game series to the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers which concluded one of if not the most successful suc-cessful Utah Jazz season ever.
