In the process they will likely set a national record for attendance at a regular league high school basketball game. The teams that will be meeting are Provo andOremwho are now rated number one and two in the state. The game is expected to be a very close one for two reasons: (1) In their last clash, Provo barely beat Orem by one point, and (2) both teams are unbeaten except for Orem's previous loss to Provo. The game will be Orem's home game. The game staged for Friday, February 2nd, at 7:30 is liable to be a thriller because, judging from the two school's past records with each other during the past two years, Provo and Orem have split wins and losses. This game will determine whether or not that tradition will be carried on. Many people feel that it might as well determine who the AAAA state champs will be. Both teams have played against such competition as Hillcrest and Kearns and have come out as winners. Both teams sport some of the strongest hoopsters in the state. Two of Orem's leading men are 6'9" Jay Cheesman and 6'5" Richard Herlin who have done much to unify the Tiger's team this year. Provo also possesses tall men in 6'11" Brett Vroman and 6'5" Gifford Nielson who have helped Provo attain depth and strength this season. Orem High School would like to invite all people who are interested in high school basketball at its best to attend the game. With your support of these fine teams they will undoubtedly undoubt-edly set a new national record for attendance at a regular league high school game. Half-time activities will include the lovely drill team girls from Orem and Provo High Schools and a foul-shooting contest between Mayor Winston Crawford of Orem and Mayor Verl Dixon of Provo.
