Show Thursday, May 11, 1972 City Mail Delivery In Orem Hotes2QthYear The 20th anniversary of home delivered mail within Orem City was observed this week as service ser-vice was extended to several new residential areas of the city. Postmaster Clyde E. Weeks, Jr. inaugurated city delivery service ser-vice in Orem back in 1952 with three .. routes served by Reed H. Davis, V, Doral Graff and Keith V.Kofford. Today, Mr. Davis serves Orem's lone rural route, and 23 city carriers comprise the city delivery force. The evolution of city mail delivery de-livery in Orem has seen the transition from carrier-owned sedans to bycycles to three-wheeled three-wheeled mailsters to the present-day present-day Jeep delivery units. The 17 Jeeps presently used by the Orem Post Office are ownea by Vacation Trailer Rentals of Orem and are leased to the UJS. Postal Service. Mr. Weeks said the week of May 15-20 has been selected this year as Mailbox Improvement Week. This is the time when customers on rural and city motorized delivery routes are encouraged to examine and improve, im-prove, where necessary, the appearance ap-pearance of their mailboxes. According to Mr. Weeks, the purpose of Mailbox Improvement Week is to call attention to the need for providing mail receptacles recep-tacles which are designed to protect pro-tect the mail, from the weather and are neat in appearance, con- Orem-Geneva Times 1 w C lurpney a HOUSE of FINE MEAT I 838 NORTH STATE, OREM 2 Doors North of Park's Cafe 225-0336 Prices Effective Thur., Fri., & Sat. Survival Is Big Issue, Says F.D. Malaspina Thoughts of survival are fast becoming an issue because present pres-ent day nations are on a collision course with God. This Jehovah's Christian Witnesses have publicly pub-licly proven. So said Mr. F. D.Malaspinaas he spoke on the subject 'Are You 'Marked' for Survival?" in addressing upwards up-wards of 2000 delegates at the concluding session of the three-day three-day circuit assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses at the Highland High School in Salt Lake City. "Surviving "Sur-viving the end of the present system sys-tem means seeing the end of the ruining of God's property, of war, crime and of starvation and, by God's undeserved kindness, living in a righteous system of things with its paradise earth. Many Biblical examples have illustrated ill-ustrated God's viewpoint of human affairs and administrations; administra-tions; also His expressed judgements judge-ments of such. He has never tolerated indefinitely false worship wor-ship or apostasy, he concluded. Mr. D. R. Killian, Circuit Supervisor Su-pervisor for Jehovah's Witnesses, Witness-es, noted that the group has experienced a 63 increase in membership during the past two years in central Utah and is currently enjoying "well over 100 attendance at the meetings. meet-ings. He further stated that "this is very significant in view of the general decline in religious re-ligious interest and church attendance at-tendance throughout the world."
