Samples from seven states were 10 to 100 times more acidic than expected. Scientists link the acidity to air pollutants such as sulphur and nitrogen oxides. Mormon Miracle Pageant In Manti The Mormon Miracle - famed pageant based on Latter-day Saint history and doctrine, which has already been performed for audiences aud-iences totaling about 125,000, will have eight performances on Temple Hill in Manti this summer. sum-mer. Dates for this summer's performances per-formances are July 14 and 15 and then July 17-22 inclusive, according to R. Clair Anderson, pageant general manager. He said these dates include two weekends and will thus give people living some distance away a better chance to see the pageant. pag-eant. The July 17 performance will be a special one for local people who can extend their home evening even-ing by attending in family groups and for out-of-town tourists. Each night 1,000 chairs will be reserved for those coming by bus providing advance reservations res-ervations are made, Mr. Anderson Ander-son said. Since admission is free, it is not possible for individuals in-dividuals or small groups to make reservations, he added. Rehearsals for the pageant will begin June 5 with a cast of 300. Mrs. Macksene Rux, Salt Lake radio and television personality, will again be the director. Her assistants will be Mrs. Jane Bralthwaite and Mrs. Helen Dy-reng. Dy-reng. The sound tape which carries the sound effects, voices of the narrators and background music has been enhanced with music provided by the Mormon Youth Symphony and Chorus directed by Jay Welch, Mrs. Rux said. The stage on which the tableaux tab-leaux are presented is being re-mod'aled re-mod'aled for the summer's performances, per-formances, according to R. Morgan Mor-gan Dyrong, production manager. In addition, the seating area will be larger and closer to the stage to provide better vision. Several thousands of dollars are also being spent to provide additional lighting, Mr. Anderson said that in addition ad-dition to commercial establishments, establish-ments, food and drink will be available at booths operated by ward groups and also at chapels. Arrangementsare also beingmade in near-by communities for special meals. Those coming to the pageant in campers and trailors will be able to find parking places in Manti and in other close-by locations. lo-cations. The Mormon Miracle Pageant is based on "The Mormon Miracle," Mir-acle," a dramatic monologue written by Miss Grace Johnson, Ephraim, and presented widely Orem-Geneva Times Thursday, May 11, 1972 by her to groups throughout the West. It was first presented in pageant pag-eant form in 1968 at the Sanpete County Fairgrounds. The following fol-lowing year it was moved to Temple Hill and has since drawn ever-larger crowds not only from Utah but from many other states and foreign countries as well. Last year's attendance for six performances was estimated at about 80,000. "We are continuing to make every effort to enhance both the dramatic impact and the spiritual message of the pageant," Mr. Anderson said, "and also to pro-, vide for the convenience, comfort and safety of the many who choose to share with us the Mormon Miracle Pageant."
