Laing, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. (Bill) Laing of Orem, Utah. Sylvia is a 1971 graduate of Cody High School, where she was a member of the concert choir and the pop group. She was active in the Cody Chapter of the Future Homemakers of America and last year held the office of president of the local chapter. Mark Is a 1968 graduate of Orem High School and has attended at-tended Brigham Young University. Uni-versity. He served two years as a missionary in Germany for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Kennecott Awards Planning Grant For Research A planning grant of $50,000 from Kennecott Copper Corporation Corpora-tion will enable the University of Utah Department of Community and Family Medicine to develop proposals and seek operating funds for in-depth studies of possible pos-sible health effects of sulphur dioxide di-oxide in the Utah environment. The bride is the former Mary Lynn Calderwood, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gene Calderwood of Orem. Mr. Cowley is a son of Ned Cowley of Las Vegas and Mrs. Gerry Fordham of Orem. The couple were married in Las Vegas Oct. 7. While at OHS she was active in GAA, FHA, and Nike Clubs. She also was a member of the Symphonic Band and traveled with the band to the American Am-erican Music Educator's National Conference in San Diego. ' Mr. Meldrum graduated from Provo High Schoo', LDS Seminary Semin-ary and Provo Technical College. Col-lege. He also attended Southern Utah State at Cedar City and is affiliated with SigmaGammaChi.
