Show O REM -GENEVA TIMES THURSDAY, MAY 10, 1856 5th Ward Primary-Officers Primary-Officers Honor Retiring President A social at the home of Vivian Pyne was held Monday night to nonor June Jensen who recently retired as president of the Fifth Ward Primary. She was replaced ty Mrs. Pyne. Approximately 30 officers and teachers who are now serving or had served with Mrs. Jensen were present and awarded the honored guest with a presentation presenta-tion of a ten year service pin. A skit was performed by Ora Ivell and Nelda Shumway. Afterwards Af-terwards the guests enjoyed a buffet luncheon presided over by Cleone Ogilvie, Maijorie Larson and Ethelyn Miner. Continuing as leaders of the Primary organization with Mrs. ;Pyne are Anna Lou Patten, first counselor; meiaa onumway, sec ond counselor and Ora Lovell, secretary. State Orem AC5-1512 Eleventh Ward To Host Stake Dance Members of Sharon and Orem Stakes will join together again this weekend for another Satur day night dance at the Orem Fourth-Fifth Ward Hall. Dancing will begin at 8:45 p.m. to music by Bert Murdock's orchestra. Hosts for the occasion will be officers of the Eleventh Ward MIA with Mrs. Christa Christen- sen, YWMIA president, and Wal lace Kendall, YMMIA superin tendent, in charge. Watters Merits Road-E-0 Honors For Second Time A Lincoln High School senior repeated his abilities of the pre vious year to capture nrst place honors for the second consecutive consecu-tive time at the annual Jaycee sponsored Road-e-o. Carlos Watters, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Watters, displayed exceptional skill and knowldege in safe driving as he attained the high point scores in both uie written and driving tests. Placing Plac-ing second was Elwood Harley and hird place was won by Rodney Rod-ney Peterson. ' The driving contest as judged last week at the Scera parking lot by Orem Police Chief Reed Burgener, Officer Burton Ivie, and State Highway Trooper Wil lis Vincent. The course, arranged by Mr Vincent, Clyde Davies and Jerry Reeves of the Jaycees, was patterned to resemble the course outlined for the state contest in which the winner will compete later this month. Other contestants included Richard Pyne, Shirl Lowe, Joe IValdez, Sandra Liston, Wallace Brerton, Harold Norton, Harold; Hartley, Riley Carter, Ted Pea-: cock, Clifford Craig, Harold Coleman and Robert Sorenson. LaMar Anderberg and Dick Fausett, co-chairmen of the Jay-! cee project, report that other! contestants, alhough they placed high in the tests, were disqualified disqualifi-ed because of traffic citations issued them during the past six months. FR 3-8050 Methodist Church To Publish Two Monthly Magazines The Methodist Church, in gen. eral conference in Minneapolis, Minn., last week, officially launched a new, mass circulation monthly magazine aimed at reaching the homes of three mil lion Methodist families. At the same time the conier-ence conier-ence also launched a digest-size monthly publication for Methodist Metho-dist church officials and pastors. Both publications will appear next October. This action came as a result of a call in 1952 from Methodist bishops for a "bold venture" in religious journalism two magazines maga-zines "combining the best in modern craftmanship and editor ial skill." ' The new family magazine, titled titl-ed Together, is an 80-page quality qual-ity magazine with many full-color full-color illustrations. It will be edited edit-ed by Leland D. Case, former editor of The Rotarian magazine, and son of a Methodist minister. The other magazine, The New Christian Advocate, will be edited edit-ed by Dr. T.
