Lincoln Wins Over Payson by 4-1 Score The Lincoln High Tiger base ball team continued their march toward a class B title Monday. The Tigers won over Payson by a score of 4-1. The Tigers meet Spanish Fork today In a crucial game. If Spanish Fork wins over Lincoln, the win will give Spanish Span-ish the title in Division Two of Region Three. Spanish won over the Provo RullHoffa and Lincoln lost to the Bulldogs. This loss favored the Hons as far as the standing goes. However, the Tigers still have a chance should they beat the Dons in today's gome, as Spanish still has a game with the tough Miners Min-ers from Carbon. In Monday's game the game was about even until the top of the sixth inning. At this point, with two runners on base, Walt Bandley hit a twobagger scoring two runs. He was followed Dy Larry Seegmiller who hit a double and stretched it into a three base hit, bringing in another an-other run. This made the score 4-1 for the Tigers. Sherm Holda-way Holda-way tightened up and the Pay-son Pay-son squad failed to reach first in the remaining innings. By Rep. William A. Dawson THE STRAWBERRY . . . One of the major features of the Central Cen-tral Utah Project the project that will furnish, water for Utah's future will be the enlargement of Strawberry Reservoir. The enlarged en-larged reservoir will store water gathered high in the Uintah Mountains for later use in the water-thirsty areas in Utah and Salt Lake valleys. The water 137,600 acre feet per year now runs to waste in the Pacific Ocean. MAJOR UNDERTAKING . . . The present capacity of the Strawberry is 283,000 acre feet. This will be increases to 1,370,000 acre feet under the Central Utah project, making the Strawberry Utah's largest artificial lake. Major construction at Strawberry will be the building of Soldier" Creek Dam a 268-foot high, 1370-foot long, earth-filled dam nine miles downstream from the present Strawberry Dam. Overall Over-all cost of the unit will be $12,-620,000 $12,-620,000 of which $500,000 would be spent for temporary construction construc-tion headquarters. FACE CHANGING .... The proposed enlargement of Strawberry Straw-berry to five times its present size will make major changes in the use and appearance of the area. The new reservoir will be seven to eight miles wide and eight to nine miles long in ad-j ad-j dition to a four mile arm behind j Soldier Spring at the new dam-site. dam-site. The new reservoir will In-1 In-1 undate several miles of U. S. highway 40 which now skirts the north margin of the present reservoir res-ervoir area. RECREATION USE . . . Being only 70 miles from Salt Lake City, Strawberry now is a major fishing and recreation area. The proposed enlargement will only increase this incidental benefit to the state. Present fishing villages vil-lages will be flooded out, but new ones will spring into being along the shores of the enlarged reservoir. reser-voir. In addition construction camps will be available for recreation re-creation use after the project is completed.
