Show OREM-GENEVA TIMES THURSDAY, MAY 5, 1955 Junior High Tennis Club Defeats A.F.; Shows Great Future Tennis is coming back strong at Orem's Lincoln Junior High School. Under the coaching of Keith Trane the youngsters show great promise of things to come. Tennis is a rather young sport at Lincoln due to the fact that in the past there have not been any tennis courts on the campus. Only last year did the school find a spot to build three courts. The Junior High teant has had two matches, both with American Fork Junior High. Lincoln won both, by scores of 4 to 1 and 5 to 0. Results First Meeting at, American Fork: Singles: Glade Clayton of Lincoln defeated Tom Hansen, A. F. 8-6 6-1. Larry Parks of Lincoln Lin-coln defeated Chipman 6-4 6-2. Pugh of Lincoln defeated Carroll 6-0 7-5. Doubles: Overly and Young, A.F., defeated Ganunett and Bigler 6-8 6-2 6-3. Bennett and Dowdle of Lincoln defeated Frane and Schmidt 3-6 6-0 6-2. Hansen 4-6 6-1 6-1 Lincoln Baseballers Win Over Lehi With a 3 to 0 Jvictory over the Lehi Pioneers, the Lincoln High School baseball nine took a tighter tight-er hold on their second place standing in the Alpine Division race. Behind the strong arm chucking of soph Jesse Pino, the Tigers played beautiful ball in shutting out the visiting Pioneers. Berdean Jarman is the Lincoln baseball coach. The Tigers threatend to score in the opening innings, but, missing mis-sing their opportunities to hit, made the decisive scores in the fourth and sixth innings. LINCOLN BAND TO PRESENT CONCERT Everyone is invited to aitenu the Lincoln High School spring band concert to be presented May 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. This will be the final concert presented by the band this school year, and it is hoped that there will be a large attendance. The concert is free to the public. Under the direction of leader Wes Barry, three combined bands consisting of 160 students will play numbers which have been used in the Region Festivals.
