The reception will be held in the Lincoln High Gym following graduation exercises, May 27th from 7 to B p.m. Special org'an music will be furnished by Jay Colyar, and refreshments re-freshments will be served Committee members in charge ot arrangements are Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Bliss, Mrs. Leland Wooten, Mrs. Ray Holdaway, Mrs. Ray Gilligan, Mrs. Howard Hall and Mrs. George Long. The annual Commencement Dance will follow at 9 p.m. All graduates, parents, faculty members mem-bers and friends are cordially invited in-vited to attend. Motel Week Recalls 42-Year History With the annual tourist move- 'ment getting underway this month, the nation's motel owners are observing their first nationwide nation-wide Motel Week May 2-8. Local motel owners point out the important im-portant role being taken by the motel in modern travel and vacation vaca-tion plans. The first motel was opened to highway travelers in Douglas, Arizona, Ar-izona, in 1913, according to Motel Association data. Today the nation's na-tion's 52,000 motels number more than one million guest rooms and business receipts have mushroomed mushroom-ed to $1.5 billion a year! LELAND NIELSONS VISIT The Leland O. Nielson family is spending the week in Riverside, River-side, California with Mr. Niel-son's Niel-son's father who is very ill. 1st Lt. Roy W. Humphrey! Recently assigned as dental surgeon sur-geon at the Tooele Army Ordnance Ord-nance Depot was First Lieut. Roy W. Humphreys, a former prom inent Orem civilian dentist. Lt. Humphreys came to his new assignment as-signment from Fort Ord, Calif., where he served as dental offi- r. A native of Logan, Utah, and a former student of the Utah State Agricultural College, Lt. Humphreys Hum-phreys attended the University of Southern California where he re ceived his degree in dentistry in 1947. Prior to the last Orem mun icipal election, Humphreys was a nominee for mayor of Orem, but withdrew his name from the party par-ty ticket. Making their home in Orem is Lt. Humphreys' wife Betty and three daughters, JoAnne, Cherry and Joyce, and two sons, Judd and Rick. Our hearts should be full of thankfulness for the soldiers who have died to help keep our country coun-try free. Two Hurt In Car Mishap Two cars Involved in an accident acci-dent last Friday morning caused total car, damage plus severe injuries in-juries to two patients. The accident acci-dent happened when Larry M. McGrew, 21, Salt Lake City, driving driv-ing a 1953 Studebaker belonging to A. A. Haycock, lost control of the car at 8th North and State Street and ran into a 1942 Ford driven by Owen K. Sail, 50, of American Fork. Mr. Small's car was knocked 230 feet down the road by the Impact. Mr. McGrew received a lip laceration and both knees were lacerated. Marilyn Maycock, 19, a University of Utah student, and passenger in the Maycock car driven by McGrew, received lac erations of the face. Mr. McGrew was given a cita tion failure to keep the car under un-der control. SECOND GRADE MAKES GIFTS The second grade has been making a gift for Mother's Day.
